Most of you have probably already seen this picture of an apparent prototype Jack Sparrow minifig at the Lego booth at comic-con, which, coupled with this post on Eurobricks, seems to point to POTC sets for 2011. That's not very surprising to me, since Lego having the Disney license + new POTC film coming out + Lego shelving their own Pirates line = obvious POTC sets. I can't really see them not doing it.

Without any information on what, exactly, the sets are going to consist of, there's not much for me to base an opinion on, but I will say this: If they make a Black Pearl set, I will be all over it. I would get that if nothing else.

I've lost all hope for a decent brand.

Stuff I expect, even if I don't care much anymore:

Undead pirates
Undead pirate/sea freaks
Kraken ?
Monkey
Black Pearl
Endeavour
FLYING DUTCHMAN
Crazy natives
Dog key with exploding cell-wall ?

3 movies, with a fourth coming. A lot of possibilities.

Seems pretty good to me as far as minifigs go. I'm also expecting some ships, but from experience Lego's ship quality has deteriorated over the years. Way back in the 90's I think I got this:

and now they're making stuff like this:

Hopefully they can pull it together for this line (If it gets made).

Oooh, do I buy LEGO's current pirate ship or risk waiting for a Black Pearl? Hmmm...

Well guys, we'll just have to wait and see. Even if they are a disappointment, I'd probably buy some anyway.

What pirate ship are they currently selling?

The one in Thrawnie's post above mine. If that's what he means, it's an imperial armada ship.

...

DO WANT!!!11eleven!!!1

*ahem*

I am very much looking forward to this line, and will most likely buy every set if they produce it. Yes, even the insane overpriced sets. I'll buy 'em all.

I love PotC, and I SO want LEGOs for them. You all will probably be treated to comics from every scene of the movie. Especially the scene in the first movie entitled Aztec Gold on the scene selection screen.

Oh, lawdy, I so want this to happen. :D :D B)

There's no picture there... at least not one I can see.

Well one thing's for sure, LEGO Barbossa had better be freaking cool. And assuming he is I'm definitely going to want decals for his face in yellow.

That's...bizarre. Do you have Brickshelf on your ad-blocker or something?

But anyway, it's a picture of this set: http://shop.lego.com...210&cn=554&d=70

There's also this set, which is an actual pirate ship.

Both of them are much better than that 4+ Pirates ship you posted, which is really not a good example of modern Lego set quality since it's from the mid-aughts when Lego was making some...questionable marketing choices to try to get out of the financial hole they were in at the time.

I couldn't see the first pic either, but the second one is this ship. Also, this ship is cool. It's not hard to mod it to be a great ship. I have two of them.

Another thing, I so hope that Jack Sparrow's hat can come off his hair...

I never make requests for flesh heads in yellow. :P

I ask for rare torsos and faces, also for different color torsos, or redrawings of my own decals. ;)

Yeah, I use the yellow sharpie method too. I have a IJ Dovchenko head in yellow which I use a lot.

@Theships- Yeah, my computer can't load brickshelf images or the site itself for some reason.

Of course. That might be the one reason I would buy any of those sets.

How dare that ugly wannabe-pirate be in the same booth as that awesome Dastan minifig! Chop his head off, Prince!

I admit I dislike Pirates of the Caribbean (... a lot), so my first reaction to this is, "This is awful." I'm not surprised they're doing it, though, since they have a license with Disney (hence the Prince of Persia sets; same producer, you know).

Considering THE SHEER AWESOMENESS of the Prince of Persia sets, maybe this line will at least have a few good parts... although considering the appearances of the characters, I can't see that happening easily. Except maybe some new pirate skeletons or something. Personally, I'd prefer if LEGO just made more sets in their own pirate line, which actually has a cool captain.

Prince of Persia had new animals (camels, ostriches), new minifig pieces (finally a shoulder-length dark brown hairpiece that's useful for so many awesome fantasy guys, a two-swords-crossed-on-back piece that I'm in love with, other new hairpieces and helmets, a white cape, various hassansin hand-blades, black and dark tan turbans, spiky shoulder pauldrons, etc.), buildings with some awesome architecture... and it had plenty of potential to have more great parts, although LEGO didn't make them.

But where I'm going with that is this: what will PotC have that's unique from the other LEGO pirate sets besides lamer minifigs with SPUD minifig parts (like that Jack Sparrow hairpiece in the picture)? I hope LEGO surprises me.
