My LUG (specifically a NPO "Bricklandia Productions", founded by PortLUG members) is putting on our convention, Bricks Cascade, yet again this year. The actual convention is this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Oregon Convention Center, and costs $60 (though the registration deadline may have passed) to attend all four days (Thursday being Setup, Friday being attendee only day, and Saturday and Sunday being the public display days). Attending the convention gets not only the opportunity to publicly display your MOCs, but also gets you a grab-bag full of goodies, first access to the vendors (and possible deals and prototypes from the Brickarms, BrickForge, BrickWarriors, etc. guys), the ability to observe (and photograph) all the MOCs up close and at your leisure, gets you into many drawings for free stuff, access to several special events (workshops, building competitions, panels, sales, and if you are over 21 and lucky, the Saturday Night after-hours party), and a few other special happenings and swag that more than pay for the convention ticket price.

The Public Display, on Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th, is also a good choice. Entry is $8 a head, or $28 for a family pass, and you can stay as long as your like. You'll have access to most of the vendors, and will get to see all the MOCs, and could still possibly win something, maybe. Most of the builders will be present on the display floor to answer any questions you have about their MOCs, and all the vendors are very friendly, and do occasionally give out freebies with purchases. We're in Hall A this year, bigger than last year, and so should have plenty of elbow room for the public to move about. Space up front can be limited, though, especially with all the kids and families who show up, so get there early for the best photo opportunities.

So, is anybody from here going to the convention, or planning to come to the public days?
