Great Expectations is a good book; more than likely, you just don't like doing a journal on it/analyzing the life out of it/getting a hundred-question packet on it. The thing with schools is, most kids don't want to be there, so anything they are introduced to there, is tangled up with their memories of how crappy their life was at school. Therefore, if the first time you read, say, Don Quixote, is in school, you'll have issues with Don Quixote because it's like a flashback from school.

Yeah... I'm reading:
  • The Inferno, by Dante Alighieri
  • The Art and Science of Fencing, by (someone I'm too lazy to look up right now)
  • Zero, a Biography of a Dangerous Idea, by (see above)
  • Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmund Rostand (?)
  • Maskerade, by Terry Pratchett
  • The Three Musketeers, by Alexander Dumas

I'll edit when I've got those author's names.

My mind has touched the farthest horizons of mortal imagination and reaches ever outward to embrace infinity. There is no knowledge beyond my comprehension, no art or skill upon this entire planet that lies beyond the mastery of my hand. And yet, like Faust, I look in vain, I learn in vain. . . . For as long as I live, no woman will ever look on me in love.

-Erik Claudin, the Phantom of the Opera

I'm... quixotic.

I'm reading Settling Accounts: Return Engagement, a novel in a series of alternate history novels about what World War I, World War II, and the interwar years would have been like if the South had one the Civil War. Interesting stuff.

I'm reading: The Supernaturalist by Eoin Colfer; Lirael by Garth Nix (for the second time); and G4M3: Shattered Reality by Justin R. Stebbins (for the third time).

I still have many other books to read, including the new Darth Bane book (the first one was AWESOME, one of the best Star Wars books I've read yet; and Jedi Knight, part of the Dark Forces series (it's old, but expensive, so I just got it recently.

In addition, I have books that I should have, but don't, that I need to read: Warriors: Power of Three: Outcast and the new Warriors graphic novel, whose name I cannot remember.

My hair sensed that. My hair is an elaborate network of nerves constantly processing information.

Twilight.

Shut up, I'm trying to impress this girl by showing her I really care about how a girl feels, which is odd, since I've said multiple times that I do.

I'm reading Eldest. Have been since it came out in August of 2005.

Hey, I'm a slow reader! tongue.gif

Seriously, I only started reading it a few months ago because the author finally released info when the next one is coming out. September of this year, I think.

I plan to try to get through some of the current Star Wars books this summer. It seems like things are really starting to heat up in that series, so I'll give that a shot. Unfortunately I already know a bunch of spoilers, but it's better to go into it with some spoilers about the early books then to read it after the series is finished and have a bunch of spoilers.

Yeah, me too, I'm slow atm, I really rarely read right now. Even though I like it...

Well, that combined with LotR has me booked up for a while now...

What I plan to re-read:

Mortal Engines (Quadrology)
The Saga of Darren Shan
