Matt Smith and Dominic Monaghan in Episode IX. Picture unrelated:
Also, if anyone has any energy left to listen to more hot takes on The Last Jedi, Mr Plinkett's video is out:

So as improbable as this sounds, what if we could see some new factions in IX. Here's a few I've come up with:
—Supreme Leader Kylo Ren's FO: The First Order troops loyal to Kylo Ren, led by his Knights of Ren. This faction is supplemented by some form of Clone army and is based around Vader's Castle.
—Some sort of renegade First Order that hates Kylo Ren and plots his downfall
—The New Republic: the few planets that survive the invasions by the First Order are unified with the Resistance leadership, they wage a more conventional war against the First Order
—Some form of unified Scum and Villainy faction dedicated to keeping criminals free of both the First Order and the Republic.
—A non-First Order Imperial Remnant, perhaps the Empire of the Hand.
EDIT: And because no one's mentioning it, Bob Iger of Disney came out and said they're slowing down Star Wars movies. I have mixed feelings about his announcement. On the one hand he took responsibility for Star Wars failing, which is something we haven't seen before from Star Wars execs. On the other hand they're not making as many anthology films which were some of the better Star Wars films in my opinion. They certainly were our best chance at getting familiar characters and/or settings.

I think those first three are pretty good bets. We already saw Hux ready to merc Kylo at the end of TLJ when he sensed a moment of weakness, so there's definitely going to be an anti-Kylo faction. I can also see the Resistabellion rallying during the time skip and coming up with enough of a fleet for a big ol' space battle at the end.
And, yeah, it's nice to see a big Disney exec admitting fault with the "a new Star Wars every year!" plan that basically everyone in the real world saw the problem with from moment one. I'm sure they'll keep playing with it until they dial in the right balance of Star Wars movies to money. They'll finish this trilogy at the end of 2019 and hopefully do a few years of anthology stuff (perfect time for the Ewan McGregor Obi Wan movie), and then when the hype starts to wane again they can announce the next numbered trilogy.
On a related note, Kathleen Kennedy just had her contract extended for another three years. And, to my unceasing dismay, Youtube's inscrutable algorithm is still trying to get me to watch that one Youtube essay about TLJ being a 'complete cinematic failure' (the one with Admiral Holdo in the thumbnail photoshopped to look like she's smirking at her own movie). I'm never going to watch it, Youtube! Give up already.

I just hope they still release anthology movies. Solo may have bombed, but I really enjoyed it. Plus Ewan McGregor in an Obi Wan spin-off is a must.

LEAKED CHARACTER DESIGNS FOR EPISODE IX!
Maybe? Apparently people are saying these are legit, and that they line up with some other leaks I haven't seen. They do look pretty believable, so I'm spoilerising it if anyone doesn't want to look. SPOILERS!

Things I'm excited for based off of this poster:
- New Red Stormtoopers! I wonder what purpose they'll serve. Maybe Kylo has commissioned a ton of clone Stormtroopers, since he thinks clones are more effective based off of a comment from Episode 7.
- The Knights of Ren are finally going to do something! I hope that they don't just waste them since we've been waiting for them to do something.
- RESISTANCE Y-WING AND FIRST ORDER TIE INTERCEPTOR. WHY DID WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE LAST SEQUEL FILM TO GET THESE
- I just now noticed C-3PO is all decked out with battle gear. I am both intrigued and scared at the same time.

What's terrible about it?
I don't think this is the final, super-duper official one true poster that's going to be the cover of the Blu Ray, btw, since it doesn't have the title and a few characters are conspicuously absent (Rose, Ghost Luke, R2-D2, Lando, Keri Russell's character [unless she's Zorii]). I think it's probably just a little teaser heading into the Star Wars Celebration that got leaked early.
Star Wars Celebration is April 11th, btw. Two more weeks until the title and trailer and I'm feeling that HOYPE.

Hey what's up guys it looks like the Star Wars Celebration convention thing is starting today, and the Episode IX panel is first up:
If my time zone conversions are correct then I'm probably going to be sleeping through it, but I'll be all over it tomorrow morning. Hopefully we get both a trailer and a title. Can't wait to be excited about it for like three hours until the crushing weight of the depressing anti-TLJ people ruin it for everyone!

Hey guys the Episode IX panel is about to start right now:
EDIT - Stephen Colbert is MCing, but I forgot about how much I dislike the inside joke, 'let's all pat eachother on the back for liking Star Wars' angle these things always take and I'm having to watch it with the sound down. Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams are out there now. They're probably only going to show the trailer at the end of the hour. Why did I wake up at midnight for this?
EDIT - JJ confirms a time skip, and we have a new shot from the movie (I can't tell from the stream quality if this is concept art or an actual still from the movie):
Also they've got Anthony Daniels on stage. I think I made a joke about him being the last cast member anyone would want to see back at the Episode VII reveal event, so I won't repeat myself, but you guys know.
EDIT - Billy Dee Williams is here now, and more pictures:
What do you think they're all glaring at so intensely? And also, how is Oscar Isaac so handsome?
EDIT - They brought all the rest of the cast out in one go. Oscar Isaac has grown a massive beard. Naomi Ackles' character is named Jannah:
Uncharted 5 confirmed:
EDIT - Oh no the whole crowd is singing happy birthday to Daisy Riddles and I can't watch it.

I love it.
(For those who didn't watch the stream, they spent an hour talking to all the main cast, then they showed the trailer at the very end, and as the Emperor's laugh was just dying away the trailer faded to black and there was Ian McDiarmid on stage all lit up in red to say "ROLL IT AGAIN")

That title is kinda straight up hot garbo, but otherwise I'm pretty excited.
I've already read some theories that "Skywalker" will become the new term for force users, casting aside Jedi and Sith as commonplace terms.
It kinda makes sense but it's also kinda dumb.
