#487692 Gwent, Hearthstone, and other silly card games

Posted by Saber-Scorpion on Today, 07:31 PM

I know you've all been waiting with bated breath for my next deckpost, so here's THE BEST DECK in Hearthstone right now:

Card list:
2x Acherus Veteran

2x Argent Squire

2x Blessing of Might

2x Fire Fly

2x Glacial Shard

2x Lost in the Jungle

2x Righteous Protector

1x Divine Favor

2x Ironbeak Owl

2x Stonehill Defender

2x Tar Creeper

2x Unidentified Maul

2x Fungalmancer

1x Prince Liam (Greymane)

1x Stormwind Champion

1x Vinecleaver

1x Baku the Mooneater

1x Ysera

Trade out any high-cost cards in your opening hand. Keep the 1-costs and maybe a 3-cost, and keep Prince Liam if you draw him.

Just remember my motto, "If you want to win the race, never trade, just HIT THE FACE!" This is a faceroll deck. Just keep pounding the enemy's health down and keep him on the defensive as much as possible. Only kill his minions if you absolutely must.

Since you have Baku the Mooneater in this deck, you can only run cards with an odd mana cost. If you do, then Baku upgrades your hero power at the start of the game to summon 2 recruits instead of 1, for the same amount of mana. Spam this hero power as much as possible, on virtually every turn. Save your cards and keep spawning & buffing your recruits!

This is a super popular netdeck in the current meta, but few of versions of it run Prince Liam, and I can't understand why not! He's a fantastic card for making sure you can survive in the late game. Since this is an aggressive swarm deck, an opponent with sufficient control can wipe you out in the early game and leave you floundering, drawing a useless 1-cost card each turn into an otherwise empty hand. But if you play Liam, all those pathetic 1-cost peons in your deck turn into random Legendaries! Sure, some of the legendaries suck on their own, but they're still better than a freakin' Argent Squire standing out there on its lonesome. I managed to beat a board-clearing Priest who kept healing himself and destroying all my cards, purely with the power of Prince Liam. The Priest survived my early low-cost onslaught and even gave himself 40 health with the quest card, and probably thought he had victory in the bag... until my endless waves of legendaries came into play! Which is why I say keep Prince Liam in your opening hand and play him as soon as you hit 5 mana.

Thanks! Simple can be better sometimes. This one is a little crazier though:

#487655 Elemental Contest #3: EARTH

Posted by Saber-Scorpion on 16 June 2018 - 08:03 AM

Elemental Contest #3: EARTH

This is a series of contests themed around a set of fantastical "elements". The first theme was Water. Next, we did FireThe current theme is EARTH. Your entry can be set in any time period or based on any universe. LEGO entries are encouraged, but we also accept other types of artwork!

The only requirement is that the element of EARTH must feature prominently in your entry. By "earth", I primarily mean rocks, dirt, sand, crystals, minerals, caves - even poisonous clouds of gas. NOT PLANTS. Your entry can feature plants, but we'd prefer it to focus on rocks. Plants will probably going to be a separate contest called "life" or something. Also, the earth in your contest should be more than just a background - it should be a central element of the entry. Build a LEGO vignette of people exploring a cave or dodging a rockslide! Or something more creative - it's up to you!

Unlike the other 2 contests, this contest will be judged by a public poll! So, presentation is key - make your entry look as cool as possible in a single image if you can!
There will be 3 winners. Each winner will get a code they can use to take a certain amount of money off one order from my shop (it also subtracts from shipping, so your order can be completely free!) and a medal icon added to their account here on the forums.

1st Place Prize = $24 shop code & gold medal

2nd Place Price = $16 shop code & silver medal

3rd Place Prize = $10 shop code & bronze medal

There may be some "admin's choice" winners too, if we really like an entry that didn't win - and we'll give bonus prizes for entries set in Wulfgard or Nova Refuge too!

Just link to your entry in a reply to this topic! Yes, you must have a forum account to enter, and I encourage you to post your entry as a topic in the appropriate board here, like the Construction Zone or Artwork boards. It's not required, but we'd love to have some new members hanging around! You can even host your images in our own Gallery here, which now has a LEGO section anyone can use! But if you prefer, you can still host your images on another website and simply link to them here.
As stated previously, LEGO entries are encouraged, but you can also enter another type of artwork You may submit up to 2 entries. The current deadline is July 31st.

If you have a question about the contest, please ask in a reply! I will paste important questions/answers here.

Tales of Wulfgard, Vol. 1 is now available in paperback from Amazon for only $9.99! And it's purdy:

The ebook is still only $0.99, but for people like me who prefer to hold a book in their hands and keep it on a shelf later, it's worth a few more dollars. :)

#487646 D3 2018: The DMC5 Display Demonstration

Posted by Saber-Scorpion on 13 June 2018 - 06:26 PM

I'm still incredibly salty that Cyberpunk 2077 is first person, I'd like to be able to see my awesome character.

There are a bunch of people crusading for third person perspective in the CD Projekt forums, and from what I hear, a developer jumped in at one point and said they would reconsider the issue. So it might still happen.

I think the obvious solution is "whynotboth.gif" - just let us zoom into first person when we want to be immersive or aim, and then zoom out to third when we want to see our character... Heck, I think 99% of games should work like that, but I guess the technology that made it possible in Metal Gear Solid 2 got lost at some point since 2001. :P

Great to see a new story in here, especially such a good one! Gripping and well-written throughout. Neitha certainly discovered a vicious streak within her! I feel sorry for the next person who gets in her way.

I wonder if Scorp would be interested in this. I still haven't gotten around to playing Origins but it seems like a substantial improvement over the old AssCreed formula. Though I do have a feeling Ubisoft might end up falling into the old cycle again with this new style.

Yeah, I do like the look of these new games set in ancient times. I've always wanted more games in these settings. I wonder how they handle the whole "Animus" thing and the "all of human history is just Assassins vs. Templars" conspiracy theory stuff, which was always the worst thing about the series imo. I didn't see any of that in the trailer... Looked cool, honestly. Might try it.

If it was an RPG with choices and stuff then I probably would have already pre-ordered lol.

Catching up on stuff.

I wish Techland had assigned Chris Avellone to lead that open world fantasy game they dropped into development hell, instead of a sequel to that zombie game my sister liked. I hate zombie games. :|

Also, here is the Skyrim 2 logo lol:

Morrowind still had the best rendition of the theme.

Halo is coming back to PC on an engine that isn't 15 years old. I can die happy now.

Gotta admit, the way they played the nostalgia card with the shot of the warthog driving through the greenery, with the signal towers in the background? That got me just a bit. I haven't played a Halo game in years, but since I don't need to buy an Xbone for this one, I might give it a shot.

According to some guy in the YouTube comments, this text is hidden at the end of the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer:

My main takeaway was confirmation of "You'll be able to create your own character". Awesome.

I wish Bethsoft were working on the next Elder Scrolls title instead of a genre-bandwagon-jumping Fallout cashgrab. :P Isn't it the Elder Scrolls turn now, after Fallout 4? Or are we just going to keep remastering Skyrim for all eternity, and explore all the unexplored areas of Tamriel in the extremely lackluster Elder Scrolls Online? Ugh...
