You should've chosen Guards. My Tyranid army wont even have that many troops in it when its done.

Yes but my army is gaunt based. As Sniper said yours is a Psy army.

My normal loadout wrecks Psy armies without cheap GK rules and all that. Just old school, 3rd-Edition, out-of-style asskicking. Like Psych-Torpedos and Combi-Bolt Launchers and all that! Too bad I never play against Psy armies. :(

OFFICIAL 6th EDITION STATS:

Warhammer 40,000: Rulebook (English)
440pp Hardback Book Advance Order: 23-Jun-12 Released: 30-Jun-12 USD $74.25 CAD $90.00
978190796479-4 40-02-60
And some special editions:
Warhammer 40,000: Gamers' Edition (English) Rulebook, Dice Set, Satchel $123.75
Warhammer 40,000: Collectors' Edition Rulebook (English) Rulebook $132.00
Also released with the book:

  • 40-41 Warhammer 40,000 Munitorum Templates 3 x Templates $19.75

  • 40-45 Warhammer 40,000 Munitorum Tape Measure Servo Skull Tape Measure $16.50

  • 40-09-60 Warhammer 40,000: Psychic Powers (English) 32 Cards, Leaflet, Box $13.25
Pretty much follows the rumors, but this is direct from GW Trade Sales.
(Edited to include the special editions in the OP)

$75? Unless there's a starter set right on its tail offering the mini version I can pick off of any bitz re-seller for half that, they can shove their new rules: I'll just keep with LoTR SBG and see about picking up WHFB.

EDIT: 'Psychic Power Cards'? Arby get your SoB's ready to rumble 'cause I think we all know where the spotlight for this edition is going.

Also the WHFB and 5th ed 40k book are already $75, so I guess I can't whine about that. Well, I mean I can 'cause they only did that recently but eh.

Aw man, LoTR also got price increases across the board. Trolls leaped from $33 to $41, the Gorgoth thing flew from $40 to flipping $71, and the basic units each saw a $3 rise. I'm not too bummed about the basic box-set leap because my Evil army is pretty much done save for some archers and what have you, but I was hoping to get an Isengard troll in there. ._.

That's just insane, I hope that they don't do the same thing with 40k.

Sadly, somethings did get bumped up in price, though the ones you really feel your wallet hurting are the larger vehicles, some having gone up by $10 while others went up by like $2.

lol, dude, it happens to 40k about twice a year. APCs are already pushing $40 when they were barely over the $30 mark earlier this year, squads across the board are steadily rising to the next round double-digit, tanks took a leap from $40 to $50, and mega tanks are getting close to $80 and farther from their original price of $50.

I have Tyranids and the only big difference (maybe) I can see is the Carnifex. Trygon might have gone up but who cares about that. Rippers and the box of 5 gaunts went up as well.

Get ready to see that LOTR markup happen when the Hobbit comes out. Grab now before they're sneakily raised in advance.

I don't get why they don't just steadily raise their prices instead of making the prices go up by like 2-20 dollars all at once.

EDIT: Does anyone know some good gaunt-based Tyranid strategies?

Yeah seriously. <_< I cling to the forlorn hope that when the Hobbit pops up LoTR will suddenly see new gaming life which would be great because it really is a brilliant game. I mean, turns out we've got a Knights of Malta order group somewhere in the state and they hold monthly wargaming club-meets. A few of them popped by our bunker a few months back and I found out that of all the games that they play (Literally everything) they hold LoTR SBG in the highest regard.

Anyhow, I got my first IG (Proxy) Veteran squad all painted up: I'll chuck up some pics in a bit.

Well, you're doing a Psykick based nid army, so that doesn't count/

Ssh. Tremble in front of the mighty power of Nidhogg!

The Rulebook includes exciting features such as dynamic close-combat, flyers, psychic devastation and interactive scenery.

Oh man. Looks like Dark Angels really are going to be the star of the edition. I want to fist pump and get all happy but I know Matt Ward is in it somewhere and after seeing what he did to GK and Newcrons, I'm dreading what the DA have 'evolved' into.

EDIT:

Pause at 1:22. Vehicles have lives now. Hell, just pause whenever they're skimming the rulebook and squint. Flyers, WHFB style pivoting, ballistic skill modifiers, etc. Also, Allies are official. All of my yes.

Since I am a gaunt-based player so the HP is a good thing but new rules are gonna be a PAIN. Unless they finally realize a big chunk of their players are Tyranids and make more of the models like the Harpy or the Parasite of Mortrex.

It'll mean being late to the party, but I'm just gonna camp it out for their new starter set and just get the inevitable mini-booklet off of a second-hand bitz shop for about half-price.
