However, he is only this way around people he knows rather well, as he has a tendency to be shy around others. People *generally* seem to take a liking to him, however, once they get to know him. Nobody is without enemies, though. And Aren is no exception.

Fears: Aren has had a lifelong fear of forced submission (Being bound, strapped down, etc...) and will develop an iron will to get out of a situation where said fear would be present. In this way, he is also slightly claustrophobic.
Character History\Biography: Aren was born of somewhat distinguished descent in Minos. His father worked as a hired man defending shipments leaving and returning to Minos. His mother was a scholar of noble birth who was particularly fascinated with the occult. She sometimes shared her beliefs with Aren, which was something his father greatly disapproved of. Around the time Aren was 16, a ship, which Aren's father was on, headed to the Southern nations never arrived in port. Everyone on the ship was presumed dead. Aren's mother, without the aid of the father, and with little experience in work outside of her books, could not provide for both Aren and herself. So Aren decided, despite his young age, he was at least old enough to fend for himself, leaving his mother with one less mouth to feed. He left his home, taking up work as a carpenter's assistant. The pay was little, but it was better than starving to death. He made a home for himself in an unused hay-loft, using what little money he made to pay for food.
To make ends meet, Aren turned to bettering himself with of charity of the more merciful nobles. Eventually, a particular family of merchant nobles, owning a business of various trades, took pity on Aren and allowed him to take advantage of their hospitality, bringing him off the streets and allowing him a place to stay in their manor, in exchange for his services to their business. The pay was far better and, in addition, for the first time in a very long time, Aren finally had a decent place to stay. He gladly accepted their offer.
It was then that Aren started up a rather complicated romance with one of the daughters of this family by the name of Cassandra. A shy, dark haired girl with a pale complexion. Their relationship was strong, but secret, as both were a bit on the shy side, having no intention of letting their feelings be known to the other members of the family. For four years, Aren worked with the family, becoming almost like an adopted son to them. He felt at home there, establishing lasting friendships with all of them. Eventually, the family decided that, despite their success in Minos, it would be better for them if they moved their business to Ilkon. The news was a heavy blow to Aren, as Aren had not only developed feelings for Cassandra, but had also started strong friendships with the other family members. Before the family left, Cassandra gave to Aren a dagger adorned with the crest of her family, promising that they would someday meet again. Aren treasured the gift ever since. After the family moved, Aren decided his best choice would be to begin life on his own in Minos.
Purchasing a few provisions and a hand-and-a-half sword (Both for defense and as a status symbol) with the money the family had given to him as a parting gift, he began a life without the family, doing odd jobs around Minos, gradually working up enough money to buy safe passage to Ilkon. With his weapons, his wits and his ambitions, Aren eagerly awaits his journey across the sea...
