Aging Parents
05.02.2016

As I grow older
So do my parents.
I'm watching their hairs gray,
White is setting in.

Their eyes are getting dimmer,
Their movements slower,
Their hearing diminishing,
Their health declining.

It hurts to see.
They're getting older,
I know it will be some time
Before they are claimed by the Shadow Angel.

But, I still worry.
They're my parents,
They took care of me,
Soon I'll be taking care of them.

I need to work on my anger,
I need to work on my patience.
Just like they worked on theirs
To take care of me.

I need to cherish my time with them.
There will be a time
When they won't be able to move easily.
Hopefully I'll be there to hold them up.

I don't want to think about it,
But all the signs are there.
I watch them with fear,
I don't want to lose them...

But, death is natural.
The Shadow Angel will come.
I just hope that my last memories of my parents of me
Will be good.

Failing Facade

Recently, I have been afraid.
There have been health scares
That could result in agonizing pain
And eventual death.

So many visits with the doctor
And now a specialist.
So much blood drawn,
Test and retest.

Am I fine,
Or am I dying?
The stress is ballooning
And eating me away.

I keep a brave face,
But I'm terrified.
I can only fake my strength for so long,
I have broken down.

I broke,
I faltered
As the fear and anxiety of the unknown
Came tumbling down upon me.

Couldn't sleep,
Awake for hours
As my mind went wild,
And my heart racing.

Questions on my mind,
Will I be alright?
What's wrong with me?
Am I going to die?

Everyday I put up a facade,
A brave face to hide the fear.
Eventually, I couldn't keep it up,
My facade is failing.
