Speaking of face editors...
The Sims 2 let you breed monsters. Hahahahah. Good times.

Thanks, Capulet and Harry! Drake's theme has been difficult; I'm going for a rock/metal vibe. I've made a few versions, but I'm not happy with any of them.

Ideally I'll be recording the electric guitar parts for real instead of using samples, but it's doubly hard to write an electric guitar part and record it. Really makes you appreciate the professionals.

Check out the music I've been making for the Wulfgard Kickstarter backers: http://rycast.bandcamp.com

Of course, anyone is free to listen to it (or buy it  )! Backers should be able to download the newest track.

Track 4, "The Wanderer," was added recently. I'm slowly but surely adding the 2 remaining tracks.

Thanks for listening!

#229104 New ACU Modern Military Decals!

Posted by Rycast on 29 April 2010 - 11:53 AM

Well, I do have minifig pics of all of them (including tan camo) besides the new ACU decals - all of the others were made back in June '08. You can find minifig pics of those here.

Also, you can read about the U.S. Army Combat Uniform (and compare the camo pattern on the decals to the real thing) here. ACU with the UCP (Universal Camouflage Pattern) is the standard worn by the U.S. Army right now (that's why you see it used in all the video games and movies right now as well) - but, as the article says, "Soldiers operating in Afghanistan will soon be issued a more appropriate 'MultiCam' pattern" ... in fact, it sounds like it may be seeing limited use already. MultiCam is pretty cool stuff - here's their official site. Maybe I should get started on some MultiCam decals, too. :P

Glad you like 'em. :shades: Yeah, I'll try to get pics of the ACU minifigs up sometime...

#228656 New ACU Modern Military Decals!

Posted by Rycast on 27 April 2010 - 12:34 PM

Hi everyone, long time no see. :P I wanted to let everyone know that I've made new modern U.S. Army Combat Uniform (ACU) with Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) decals. I have yet to put them on actual minifigs for photos, but they're now available for sale in Justin's shop! :shades: Also new are the the GHOST camo and a seperate UCP camo with a variant vest (and camo mask).

Photos of them on minifigs soon... hopefully...

In the meantime, check them out in the shop and let me know what you think!

The decals are now available to buy in Justin's shop! Check them out HERE. Oh, and Vorgain: Urban Dark Grey has been added. wink.gif

You haven't read Rainbow Six yet? I've started it recently and it's better than the games in my opinion!
Anyway, these Minifigs are pretty good! You should try making the ones featured on the cover of the book though, those are way cooler.[/img]

I did make one "heavy"-suited minifig, with the face shield. Go look at the pics of my blue uniform minifigs -- the one on the far right. I guess I should have made more of them. And yeah, I'll have to get the novel sometime...

At first, I was going to make three different suit styles (light, medium, & heavy) for each color, but that would made the total number of decals 42 instead of 14. Instead, I just went for a mostly "medium"-style look, and used different head gear to make them look lighter or heavier. Of course, modern military vests and equipment are highly modular, so there are no real standard "light," "medium," and "heavy" uniforms.

I particularly like the winter and tan operatives. The Jungle Camo is nice to. Ever consider a Ghillie suit?

Hmm... They would be kind of hard to make using LEGOs. Although it would be cool.

Thanks for all the comments, everybody! biggrin.gif

Perfect! I was just about to tell Scorp to make some military/Swat decals. They'll be in the shop, yes?

Yep. Justin is revamping his shop; they should be up soon...

I'd love to see a vig of some of them in action.

I was planning on doing that, originally. Maybe I'll still make one, sometime. Hopefully...

Again, thanks for all the feedback! wink.gif

The only problem is that there's no dark-grey ones. *hint-hint*

Well, I made light grey and black... Isn't two shades enough? tongue.gif If you want a darker one, black works. biggrin.gif

Also, looking at them again, the only one I'm not a fan of is the Urban Camo one, with the light bley body, and old gray helmet. I don't know if I can be helped, but I'm still not a fan of it.

Yeah, I did that because I wanted the decals to be compatible with the newest LEGO torsos, so that people buying the decals wouldn't have to put the decals on the old torsos in order for the colors to match. But I didn't have a bley helmet to use, so I just used an old grey one.

The next thing you need to do is create cropped versions of these decals that will fit on the LEGO Minifig vest in all of it's colors. That way we can add real body armor to our figs. Just an idea, but a really cool one.

Not a bad idea. Although personally I think it looks better just on the torsos, because then it looks like the vest actually wraps around the sides (as most tactical vests do). That vest you linked to looks a little more like a life jacket to me, since it doesn't go around the sides. Still, it would be pretty cool...

Have you read the actual Rainbow Six book? It's pretty good. (I just finished it)

I haven't, actually. I've read a Tom Clancy novel, but not Rainbow Six. I've been meaning to buy it. The games are awesome, though, or at least the originals: Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear, and Raven Shield.

Again, thanks for all the comments!

I'm glad everyone likes them! Yes, the decals could be used for many different modern-warfare games and settings, such as Rainbow Six, Counter-Strike, Ghost Recon, S.W.A.T., etc... Although the original Rainbow Six games were the main influence I had for these decals. I've always loved those games.

The Black ones are my favorite. You should've posted a photo of one of them with a PSG1 Sniper Rifle.

You know, I meant to do that... sleep.gif I guess I forgot. Darn.

Thanks for all the comments! I was also planning on making some other military decals from different time periods, such as WWII decals. I guess we'll see...

I've made some new Modern Military / Special Forces LEGO minifig customs, which will soon be available for purchase in Justin's online decal shop. The customs were inspired from the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six (Rogue Spear, Raven Shield) video games.

Here is a direct link to view the customs. They will also be viewable on Brickshelf.

I find it incredibly distasteful that you insult an actor or character just because they may be on the heavy side. I mean really: does that effect their acting ability: no, it doesn't.

Haha. Fat people. tongue.gif

Amen to Ocelot's and Werewolf's posts. And Dr. Doom's (post #112). They shine bright with the light of sanity among a dense shroud of darkness.

Remember kids, lead = invincible. ohmy.gif

Disregarding reviews, and possible sequels, you guys forget something:

It's Indiana Jones.

I think that speaks for itself.

That's the only reason it's making any money at all. It's called milking the series. They knew the movie would make money if it had "Indiana Jones" in the title, even if they made it nothing like the original movies. Just like with the Star Wars prequels... dry.gif
