OK, I was joking before, but now I'm actually starting to believe that this audience is paid to be there, or maybe they're just piping in canned applause over the speakers?

Like, these people are falling all over themselves here. Any time a speaker even pauses to take a breath the whole place erupts in applause. They just announced that they're adding NPCs to Fallout 76 and people were dying. This is 100% ridiculous.

If anyone says the word 'Skyrim' I think the roof is going to blow off the place :P

EDIT - They announced a Battle Royale mode for Fallout 76. I'm pretty sure half the audience were incinerated.

Anyway SHUT UP BECAUSE SHINJI MIKAMI IS HERE! And he's speaking English! Pretty well for a guy who cut his own head off with a chainsaw about 15 years ago, too.

He's announcing a new game called Ghostwire Tokyo, directed by a woman named Ikumi Nakamura who is absolutely precious, and it seems pretty cool? Survival/psychological horror in modern day Tokyo with some ghosts and stuff. CG trailer, though. E3 2019 was the year of not seeing any gameplay for anything.

You guys I cannot exaggerate how nuts this crowd is. There's one frat bro dude guy who's just roaring "YEAAAH" at the top of his lungs every five seconds. Like, before they would at least wait until the speaker had stopped talking, but now it's like a constant stream of "WHOOOO YEEERRRRAAAAGH" any time they even hear any word they recognise.

"Elder Scr-"

"YEAEEAAH!"

"Dragon"

"OH MY GOD!"

EDIT - OK "YEAAAH" Guy has actually won me over. I'm super hyped now. This atmosphere is infectious :P

OK well they did some kind of Commander Keen thing, and then it's just been a bunch of mobile stuff. I think this show has been like 75% phone games so far.

And it seems like security might have come and escorted "YEAH" Guy out, because the crowd has definitely calmed down. I miss him already.

EDIT - Wolfenstein Youngblood is looking like a fun time. Apparently Arkane is working on the level design, so that part should be good, at least (I found the level design in The New Colossus to be incredibly confusing and hard to navigate).

EDIT - Arkane is here, and YEAH Guy is back! Oh God I hope Arkane's new game isn't multiplayer only. Please give me that Dishonored/Prey goodness. I can handle multiplayer stuff as a different mode but no multiplayer only *crosses fingers*

EDIT - Arkane's new game is called Deathloop, and they showed it with a CG trailer. They're saying it combines a mindbending story, handcrafted levels, and 'Arkane's signature gameplay'. I could be super hyped, you guys. I MIGHT BE GETTING SUPER HYPED.

EDIT - OK, so some YEEEAHs and WOOOOs later, Bethesda apparently has their own game streaming service now. It's called Orion, and it basically means that the game streaming future is already splintering into half a dozen different services that all come with their own monthly fees before it's even started in earnest.

EDIT - Alright, NOW we're finally doing Doom. Yeah Guy saved his biggest YEEEEEAAAAAH for this one.

EDIT - They started doing the "But if you're in the audience tonight you won't have to wait so long to get your hands on Doom Eternal" thing, and if they had a copy of the game under Yeah Guy's seat I swear he would have detonated on the spot.

Doom Eternal looks incredible. It makes Doom 2016 look like some dumb game for slow babies. It's also maybe the only extended gameplay trailer in the entirety of E3 so far.

It's releasing on November 22nd, so you might want to clear your schedules because right now November is ridiculously stacked. Death Stranding on the 8th, Jedi Fallen Order and Pokemon Sword/Shield on the 15th, then Doom on the 22nd.

EDIT - Someone made a Woo Guy compilation and you guys need to see it

k here's the Twitch link for the Devolver Digital show. I'll update with a Youtube one when I find it.

EDIT - OK I don't know if they're doing this on Youtube, so Twitch it is.

It's only a few minutes in and I already love it. Robo Nina Struthers isn't ready for prime time, so they're going to do the show inside her robo-mind. Also it's called Devolver Direct now.

Devolver announces Devolver Bootleg: their own new game store that competes with Steam, EGS, GOG and friends, except it only carries low-rent bootlegs of their own games. Also you have to get it through Steam.

This is the best show so far. Devolver wins E3.

EDIT - OK so the story is that Robo Nina Struthers is being controlled by an evil new employee of Devolver Digital: Linda from Marketing. She's spearheading a plan to bring about a new, dark age of Devolver: The Devolver Direct, and only by heading an underground rebellion will Nina be able to wrest control back to the side of justice. Join us next year for the next chapter of the Devolver Cinematic Universe.

Another pre-rendered trailer?

Oof. C'mon, CDPR. Y'all are better than this. I couldn't care less about CyberWick, show us gameplay. This game's been in development for 6 years and we still haven't seen so much as a minute of it.

Oh, but hey, a release date. I'm sure it won't be rushed at all.

I couldn't care less about CyberWick

Wrong.

n3SVIzt.png

Keanu's character's name is Johnny Silverhand, by the way.

Also there's a secret message from CDPR hidden in the trailer:

Finally, after months of preparation, we can share with you two big things we have been hard at work on — CP2077's cinematic story trailer and a brand new gameplay demo! Yes, yes, we know — for now, the demo is only available to the lucky ones who managed to get tickets to E3 and the rest of you will have to wait until gamescom or the public dev Q&A unveiling stream at PAX in August. Yeah, we can already feel the bashing you're gonna give us online :(. "Why are you not treating us fair", "why is the gameplay not being released right away?". The reason is we want to make the most out of the months of work we put into the demo and first showcase gameplay live at E3 and gamescom. Releasing gameplay right away would make the gamescom presentations pointless and would significantly limit our chance to build hype. Why do we need to build hype? To get more gamers interested in CP2077 and, hopefully, convince them to give it a go. We are putting our hearts and souls into making CP2077 a great game and we would like as many gamers as possible to find out about it and experience its amazing story. Also, hype can turn into sales (after all, we are not a charity), and good sales allow us to grow, take creative risks and deliver new, great games for you to enjoy.

And let’s not forget about one more super important announcement — the release date. Less than a year from now, on April 16th, 2020, you’ll finally be able to sink your teeth into Cyberpunk 2077.

As you probably noticed, we prepared 2 editions of the game. Why only two? Because when we pre-order ourselves, we don’t like to go to Wikipedia to compare content. We have a simple deal: there’s the standard edition, the one we think most gamers will choose, and a limited Collector’s Edition. While we're pretty proud of the CE, we'd like to turn your attention to that first one. Why? Because we have really maxed out the physical capacity of the box with goodies. We think this raises the bar for "standard" and we hope you'll think so, too. Also, since pre-orders are live, you might be wondering if there’s any point in placing an order now. Yes, if you want to give us some extra support. Pre-orders help us build anticipation — the more copies you pre-order, the more likely it is for us to get retail (both digital and physical) behind the game. Therefore, if you like what you see, we will appreciate you "voting yes" for CP2077 with a pre-order. If you are still hesitating though, we would rather you wait for more materials or reviews. Our goal is for you to truly enjoy CP2077 and not regret a pre-order.

Take care and looking forward to seeing you in Night City!
CD PROJEKT RED team

So look forward to Gamescom, then (August 21st).

k, so here's a little recap of day one of E3 2019, for those who couldn't play along at home. Before we start, just know that everything was CG trailers this year so basically this whole thing was a huge waste of time. OK let's jump in:

Microsoft:

- The Outer Worlds kicked things off. It's going to be available for 'free' on Game Pass, day one, when it releases on October 25th.

- Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out April 16th 2020, has Keanu Reeves in it, is the GOAT:

- Elden Ring is the From Software/GRRM game. In an interview with the Xbox blog, Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that it's going to be another Souls-style action RPG with a customizable character and brutal difficulty. Seems like GRRM wrote the underlying mythos of the game and From took over from there.

- Gears 5 didn't get any gameplay, even though it's out in three months. Halo Infinite is expected to launch alongside the next Xbox in 'holiday 2020', also didn't get any gameplay. Ninja Theory's new game is called Bleeding Edge, no gameplay. There's a new Battletoads, no gameplay.

- I think this looks really cool:

Bethesda:

- Todd kind of apologised for Fallout 76, but then he just lied and said they'd fixed it and it was great now and moved on with the show. Fallout 76 is getting big updates to add your favourite things: NPCs and a Battle Royale mode. Also that Elder Scrolls mobile game everyone hated because of the microtransactions is coming to Switch.

- Ghostwire Tokyo is the new game from Tango Gameworks, and it looks pretty neato:

- Deathloop is the new thing from Arkane. I am cautiously hyped because they didn't mention anything about multiplayer or GaaS, so this might be the glorious followup to Dishonored and Prey I've been hoping for:

- Doom Eternal is exactly what you want it to be, except moreso. Listen to this snippet of the soundtrack Mick Gordon posted on his Twitter. Also watch this:

Devolver:

- They're really good at this bizarre thing they've decided to do. Just watch the thing:

Most of the major titles are being saved for E3 2020. Ubisoft and Square Enix could have some interesting things though.

AMD has it's next horizon of gaming keynote tomorrow. Maybe some ndas are lifted tomorrow. Maybe...

Next Batch of consoles..... Or well the rumors.

PS5 - 8 Cores Zen 2 - RAM - 16+ GB -  GPU - 9.2 Tflops somehow equal to 14.x Tflops on GCN? FEB 2020 reveal?

XB4 - 8 Cores Zen 2 - RAM - 16+ GB - GPU - 8 Tflops? Equal to some other number like 13 on GCN? JUNE 2020

Switch 2/ Switch Go? - Even more Portable Switch. Rumor of a better SoC that is cooler and faster maybe more powerful. Extra Mario Mushrooms.

That's a heavily scripted demo of what they're aiming for the game to look like, like that now-infamous Anthem reveal. Hence why they have that big disclaimer watermark on it. When I say gameplay I mean seeing someone pick up a controller and play a version of the actual final product. We still haven't seen that.

I feel like there's maybe a 50/50 chance at best of FFVII Remake actually coming out on the date they claim. That's nine more months for them to announce a delay. We'll see.

OK so our next shows start in around eight hours, just long enough for me to snuggle up in bed at 6 in the evening like an old man and hope I can get to sleep. It's certainly cold enough. It's like the first day of Winter and I've already had enough. Anyway here are my hopes and dreams for tomorrow's shows:

PC Gaming Show: I have absolutely no intention of actually watching this, but they usually have one or two interesting announcements to read about later. Maybe some ports of the last few straggling console games that never found their way to PC, maybe some cool new stuff.

Ubisoft: Hopefully it isn't going to be one of their excruciating two hour affairs where every game gets a CG trailer, then a fifteen minute sit down chat, then a gameplay demo full of scripted banter, then one last trailer before they move on. We know they're going to have Watch Dogs 3 in London, which should be pretty cool, and hopefully we'll see Beyond Good & Evil 2 looking closer to a finished product. I want that Splinter Cell announcement, though. Gimme those dulcet Ironside tones.

Square-Enix: This has all the potential to be a showstopper. We should finally be seeing some meaty stuff from FFVII Remake and the Avengers game, as well as finding out what Platinum's game Babylon's Fall actually looks like. I'm looking forward to this one. Getting those hopes up reeeeaal high. What could possibly go wrong?

Here we go, people. Coming up soon.

EDIT - It's startiiiiing! They're starting with a small symphony playing music from Assassin's Creed. Even when they aren't here, Sony's shadow looms large over E3, I guess.

EDIT - 'ere we go, lads. It's Wotch Dogs in bloody London innit swee''earts

EDIT - So much for not having any guns, then, because it just went full on man shooter. It seems like any time you die in Watch Dogs 3 you're going to inhabit the body of a new recruit in the anarchist anti-authoritarian-government rebellion, including posh old ladies with stun guns and young women with cool Ubisoft haircuts.

Thankfully Ubisoft didn't get the memo that gameplay footage wasn't allowed at E3 this year, because this has been a pretty meaty gameplay demo. I had a lot of fun with Watch Dogs 2, so I'm looking forward to playing this even if it is more shooting than I'd hoped for. They've definitely taken some cues from John Wick in the mid-gun-combat melee animations, so that helps.

EDIT - Watch Dogs 3's creative director is Clint Hocking, the director of Far Cry 2 and the Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

EDIT - Ubisoft wants you to know that despite the game depicting a London in the midst of a modern day totalitarian regime, Watch Dogs 3 is definitely not political, no sirree. It's coming out March 6th 2020.

Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is here to talk about his new comedy sitcom about video game developers.

Not a video game.

It's been going on for a while, too.

EDIT - OK, after a quick break so a professional e-Sports commentator could say some things I didn't listen to, we have finally moved on to our second game of this conference (after over 30 minutes). It's a man shooter. It is, in fact, a man shooter from several years ago. It's some kind of add-on for Rainbow Six Siege.

EDIT - Adventure Time characters are in Brawlhalla, with noticeably low-energy voice clips provided by the original voice actors.

OK now we've got that new Ghost Recon, and CG Jon Bernthal is delivering a rousing villain speech about how war is great and we should do it as much as possible but remember no politics.

Jon Bernthal is now out on stage and he's brought his dog. He's no Keanu, but points for pooches.

Oh boy, you guys, I don't know about this one. They have a woman on stage talking about some kind of Ghost-Recon-themed community outreach program or something now. I don't know if I can take it. Now there's a French fellow who I thought was going to change the subject but instead he's just talking about MORE Ghost Recon stuff.

I'm going to watch this Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 footage I just found and keep Ubisoft on in another window in case they do anything exciting:

EDIT - OK, so they're showing some kind of mobile RPG with cartoony graphics featuring characters from all the Tom Clancy games, and Sam Fisher is in it, and I SWEAR TO GOD if that's the only time we see Sam Fisher at this show we are all taking to the streets.
