The manor is nice, but to anyone who has seen true noble homes, it's rather lackluster. The furnishings are pretty, but not the best. To a commoner, it looks like a slice of heaven - to a noble, it looks pathetic.
A few decorations adorn the walls here and there, mostly weapons of various types and a few tapestries that seem slightly inexpensive and not of particularly high quality. The place it well-maintained, however, despite its owner currently being away. Everything seems very clean and pleasant, and the many large windows in all the various rooms allow in a good amount of light. Candles and chandeliers otherwise provide illumination throughout the manor's many rooms and hallways. The decorations and colorations of the draperies and furniture mostly provide a warm, homely coloration - a sort of deep burgundy. However, to some, it may seem rather dismal and unpleasant.
The rooms in the manor are as follows...
- The Kitchen (includes stairs down) - The kitchen is fairly small, but it has stairs down that lead to the cellar. Contains many different types of drinks and food supplies for cooking. Connected to the cellar via stairs and the meeting room via a doorway.
- The Cellar - Small and rather dark, contains crates of food supplies and some raw meat that was apparently just recently put there for everyone currently staying, though no one has specially prepared or cooked it. Connected to the kitchen via stairs.
- The Meeting Room (dining room) - The room in which everyone met (during the introduction in the Sign-Up Thread); fairly large, contains a big table that everyone can sit around. Connected to the kitchen, a hall that leads to the foyer, and a hall that leads to the sitting room.
- The Foyer (includes stairs up) - The fairly large and open entrance area to the manor. Contains doors leading to the other rooms and/or hallways that connect them, including the meeting room and the sitting room, and stairs up. The foyer itself doesn't contain much, just decorations to make guests feel welcome.
- Sitting Room - The largest room in the manor, full of chairs and with large windows. There is also a bar and a small chess table, along with a warm fireplace. Connected to the foyer, and the meeting room via a hallway.
UPSTAIRS is simply a few hallways leading to various bedrooms. There are four larger bedrooms that can accommodate multiple people and five smaller ones. Each is simply furnished, with a window, a bed (the larger rooms have two beds), a nightstand with a candle, and a chest at the foot of the bed.
- Prologue -
((Please note that this prologue begins immediately after the meeting featured in the introduction of the sign-up topic is over, so if you didn't read it in detail, please familiarize yourself with it so that you can act accordingly.))
With Caiden's departure from the room, the meeting concluded. Everyone fell silent, some of them clearly unsure to react to just how many people had attended this little secretive discussion. The many inhabitants of the meeting area began to leave - save for Stevan and Daisy. Stevan stayed in the room, though he reached down for a pack at his feet, drawing out a large map and unrolling it on the table before him. Daisy scooted her box over by his side to peer at the map at the same time.
The others rather quickly dispersed. Plexaura and Ben left in the direction of the sitting room without saying a word to anyone. Plexaura went to stand before a window and stare out pensively, her arms crossed. Ben went to sit in a chair, looking at some small piece of parchment, though he still didn't remove his helm.
Drake just shrugged and began to wander, eventually finding his way to the foyer, where he paused to seemingly admire assorted weapons hanging from the walls. Kye, however, strode off into the kitchen, where he scratched around until he found a bottle of booze. Sniffing it, he then sank down in a corner to drink now that he was alone for the time being, staring into space.
Lastly, Jed and Forge also remained in a pair - and united to annoy someone. Their mark turned out to be Katrina Windborne, who was still in the meeting room when they approached her. Perhaps the gods hadn't favored her with luck this day.
The red-haired elf twins sauntered over to her with grins on their faces. "G'day, lass," said one - Katrina couldn't be sure which was which.
"Aye, good day," said the other. He nudged his twin and added, "Stop talking like a git."
"Takes one to know one, git," the second retorted under his breath before they returned their attention to her.
"And I'm Jed. You stick out around here, don't have any big order logos blazoned on anything you're wearing," Jed added.
Not missing a beat, Forge finished for him, "How'd you end up in this dismal little bunch?"
After his departure from the meeting room and his brief breather against the closed doors, Caiden quickly straightened himself and headed upstairs. He was sure more than a few of the people present at the meeting would want to speak with him soon, but he couldn't - not right now.
From her place still hiding in the belt pouch, Percula couldn't help but notice an odd sense of urgency in Caiden's movements as he stepped into the bedroom he'd apparently designated as his own; it was one of the smaller ones, with only one bed. The subtlety of his mood, as usual, was something she figured was invisible to anyone who had seen him leave the meeting earlier.
Closing the door behind him, Caiden dug around in his pack - which he had left in the floor by his bed - until he found a small potion bottle, which he uncorked and downed so fast that Percula didn't even have time to speak before he gulped down all the contents in one huge swallow.
As he tucked the empty vial back into his bag, he briefly glanced at the pouch on his belt and asked simply, "Doing alright in there?"
((This is the prologue to the campaign Chasing Shadows. This prologue will give everyone a chance to interact with other players and with NPCs. Depending on your actions here, especially how you treat the NPCs around you, things later in the RP could considerably change - you could even alter which other two NPC companions - in addition to Caiden himself - join you on the rest of the campaign... and some trust levels as well, of course.
I'll be posting very frequently to update NPC reactions and other things, depending on what everyone does. For the sake of this prologue, please do not leave the manor. There's nothing particularly important outside in Redfield, all of you are staying in this manor for the night, and the campaign will open up to much larger and freer areas in the future. But, for now, stick to interacting with the environment you already have, and - more importantly - getting to know the various other characters.
By the way, don't be afraid at all to spam the topic with interactions! If someone isn't involved in a conversation, they shouldn't feel intimidated into the need to read it. Only read posts relevant to you; if two other players are having a conversation in a different room, don't feel like you have to read everything they're saying, unless you want to. I don't want anyone to feel overwhelmed by posts, but no one should feel that they have to wait for other people to post when they aren't involved with what they're doing, if you catch my drift.
For anyone wondering in more detail what the NPC companions look like, feel free to check their descriptions in the NPC companions topic.
That said, remember to keep OOC discussions, questions, etc., in this thread, and I'll also be updating the starting post in it with changes to the player characters (inventory, HP, etc.), as the campaign progresses. Have fun!))
