I can't put my finger on it, but I rather like that Mace Knight. The arm maces are pretty cool!

Also, the lore bits on Morzaki the Fallen were quite nice as well. Hope to see more lore and art in 2020!

I hope so too. I've had the art necessary for the Lore post on Magic Users sitting around waiting for the Lore to be written since last June.

Anyways, on to the art!

First up, some fantasy doodles featuring some small lore bits:

Next, Caiden Voros:

Penultimately, my interpretation of Tarre Visla:

Lastly, my Best Art from 2019:

Moraki the Fallen looks interesting, but hard to tell. The little flesh golems by his throne were nifty.

You did a good job with the pose of the fairy.

The Mandalorian art was nice, the colors are good. I want to start doing digital art primarily for coloring because once you commit traditionally, there's no going back, so that's a little stressful.

As for the Steven Universe art, it's cool to see you take a more realistic approach to it. A very different change of pace, but a good one.

It's funny you mentioned that, because I drew that as reference for a commission that is featured in this update.

Yeah. While I still enjoy doing traditional art, I can't argue that I like doing Digital art more.

I love the Show's art style, but it doesn't mesh well with how I draw, so I went for a more realistic approach.

Well, since I love procrastinating, we only get one art update this month, featuring no Christmas art!

First off, some Bounty Hunters I drew:

Next, a whole bunch of Steven Universe Fanart:

Next, Fanart of the Mandalorian, featuring spoilers from the finale:

Lastly, a digital drawing and some lore on Morzaki the Fallen. Since this art isn't done by me, I'm linking it rather than posting it here.

#489220 SSLF's Runner-Up GOTY of the Year 2019 Thread

Posted by Dalton Westmoore on 11 December 2019 - 03:33 PM

Yo it's ya boi Dalton, back from exile to contribute something positive to this site because he doesn't want to get banned.

In terms of videogames, I didn't play too much in variety this year, but I was intrigued by Ocelot mentioning starting a discussion because that's something I can contribute to for sure. So, out of the handful of games I played, here are the ones I want to talk about:

Dalton's all-time favorite game:

It's Minecraft. Yeah, I bet everyone has played this game once or twice in their life, but I've been playing it off and on ever since I got it in 2012. This years was different because up until this point I had been playing single-player campaigns, but this year I've started branching out into doing multiplayer.

Over the summer, me and a friend played through the game, and it was fun because I got outside of my box. I usually stay in one place, but in this game we moved around a lot. We did have a cool little fort in the mountains at the start of the game, but we moved on to trekking across the world in search of a woodland mansion. It was fun moving across the world and having different adventures along the way through all the different biomes. After we found the mansion, we moved on to searching for a fortress, and built a permanent base their were we spent the rest of the time. It was a lot of fun, and I'd love to do it again.

Now, a bunch of people at work have created Minecraft servers, and I spent a lot of time of those as well, but eventually my interest petered out. I know I'll get back into it again, but for right now I'm done with it.

Retroactive Game of the Year Consolidation Prize:

So, I picked up the special edition of Skyrim during a sale sometime this year I think, and even though I have yet to complete it, I'm having a blast with it. I'm having a lot more fun roaming across the world and breaking the game with typical Bethesda glitches than I've had actually continuing the story, which is not a determent to it, but its a testament to how much I enjoy the game. I haven't explored it with mods too much, because I enjoy the base game so much. I have a ton of screenshots that are just of atmospheric images of the weather, which I haven't done for any game before this, except...

Game I love even though it destroys Tolkien Canon:

Shadow of War was a surprisingly fun game I played a lot earlier this year. I'd never pick up the first game since the story seems so generic, so I'm glad I skipped it in favor of the sequel. The story is whatever, but the characters are what interest me. Talion is a cool protagonist to follow, but I adore Celebrimbor's embracing of the whole "Asshole Elf" trope: its really fun to see him go full ham with. The supporting characters are alright. I was surprised how well-set up Idril and Baranor are in a story where it could be easily seen as forced diversity, and it makes sense not only in the game but the lore as well. It's weird that Shelob is a sexy temptress but I guess it works for the story. The Nazgul and Sauron are badass, and I appreciate the designs are original, but the real thing I love about the story are the Orcs. The Nemesis system is the best thing about this game and I'm amazed that more games don't try this type of mechanic. I currently have 1272 screenshots of just Orcs created by this system. I have so many stories about all of the interactions and adventures I've had with them. I love them so much that they're basically my children, which is a problem because it cuts me off from the multiplayer stuff since I don't want them to die by accident. If you're on the fence about this game because of the Lore breaking Campaign, just pretend that it's an original fantasy game. Come for the Orcs, stay for the Orcs.

Bonus Star Wars Award:

I picked up Republic Commando and both Forced Unleasheds this Thanksgiving and so far I'm enjoying Commando. The difficulty with some of the enemies can spike when you first encounter them, but it slowly gets easier. The Clone Commandos are cool characters who are only hamstrung by your bad choices, and I really wish that this game was still canon. Except for the more difficult enemies: they can stay in Legends.

First up, Fantasy Doodles because I never draw anything else:

Next, the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda:

Lastly, some Steven Universe fan-art:

Hopefully, December should be more active in terms of art. It was pretty slow in terms of traditional art, but I'm glad I've started getting back into Digital Art.

Your drawings have gotten way more detailed! I really pike the Blackbeard drawing.

Keep it up!

Thanks man! I appreciate the feeback!

Pretty badass stuff lately! The angels are awesome, and I love the Jabberwock, but I'd have to say the best one is that dragon vs. hydra. Good perspective, and the hydra looks great.

Hey man! I'm glad the art was able to lure you back here!

Anyways, I'm going to be splurging some art here. A lot of this stuff was done in October or older, so I hope you guys like it.

I did do Inktober this year, but since I don't want to post every single drawing here (especially since I posted them daily to my Twitter), you can check out them out on my Tumblr

Also, if you're a part of my content-feed Discord server, you know I've been commissioning Brett Neufield (creator of the Marblegate Webcomic, which you should read if you liked SYWBAA), and these are the four that he's done so far: my fantasy characters Dalton Westmoore, Malebranche the Malignant, Demetrius Bloodhaven, and Khraddik, Scourge of the South.

Yes, I plan on commissioning Scorp again at some point, but I'd have to get more money first.

Anyways, on to the actual art!

Here are some Fantasy Doodles:

And have some Minecraft doodles as well:

Sorry for the lack of art. College, work, procrastination, and personal issues have gotten in the way of me doing art lately.

But as always, Comments, Critiques, and Suggestions are always appreciated!
