#375621 The HALO Topic

Man, after E3 I was hoping that I'd see things to put my faith back into Halo. I actually let myself believe that 343 would show me at least something that I'd like the look of. And while I'm still making my mind up about the campaign, I most definately do not like the look of the multiplayer. I've already said my piece about the customisable loadouts and unbalanced gameplay and blah blah blah, so I'll leave that out this time, but there are two new things that I've seen that I'm very worried about.

Firstly, people are dying too quickly. I got the impression that this would be the case when I first learned about the Spartan IVs, but actually seeing it makes it so much worse. Seriously the guys in the multiplayer were dropping far too easily, and that's really not something I want from a Halo game. What I've always liked about Halo games is that it's much harder to kill people than standard FPSes, it means that that extra bit of skill is required to be a good player not just to be the guy who shoots first (though obviously that always helps).

Secondly, killstreaks. KILLSTREAKS! I mean come one, when have killstreaks ever been beneficial to gameplay? Oh look that guy's much better than everyone else, lets give him something to make him more powerful because that won't make the game more unbalanced at all. What's next? They'll be saying that we can choose our own weapons at the start, and have bonus abilities to help us out in combat so we can have a better chance of beating people by having a better weapon instead of being the better player... oh, wait... they already did that didn't they? Nicely done, 343. (yes yes, I lied about not going on again about the loadout, oh well it's still a bad idea.)

@Nemesis: Halo will never be a copy and paste fps. It's armor customization and armor abilities and having-a-storyline-ness makes it its own kind of fps.

Armor customisation- This is probably the most valid of you're points, but I will remind you that BlackOps did have some level of character appearence customisation. While Halo's is admittedly a whole other level of customisation, it's not quite as unique as it used to be.
Armour abilities- Perks.
"Having-a-storyline-ness"- It can be argued (though very poorly) that CoD, Battlefield and MoH have story. And I do believe I've mentioned before how I hold out very little hope for Halo 4's story because I think there are too many things wrong with it. But I'm not going into that because if I start going on about my beliefs in regards to Halo 4's story I'm going to start using language a bit too colourful for this polite level of conversation.

EDIT: Dear Everyone in the world,
SHUT UP AND STOP COMPLAINING HALO IS NOT COD IT WILL NEVER BE COD GAMEPLAY DOES NOT MAKE IT COD. Ever played Medal of Honor or Battlefield? Those have very similar multiplayers to CoD yet they are not CoD! Halo has one of the farthest competitive multiplayers(trumped only by Assassin's Creed) from CoD.

What you need to understand is that when people say that gameplay changes are CoD-ish, they don't actually mean CoD specifically. They mean every single modern day FPS. Do you know why this is? It's because they're all the same thing with a different name. You could say that the changes are Battlefield-ish if you wanted to, because it really isn't any different at all. The reasons people use CoD as their example is because CoD is the most well known, so by using it they can get their point across to a larger amount of people. Also, out of all the copy and paste FPSes, CoD is the wost. So it's not really surprising that people will use CoD as an example to make a negative point. And Halo being more like CoD (or Battlefield or Medal of Honour or whatever other names the game goes by) is most definitely a bad thing. It's taking away what makes Halo different. Once it's no-longer able to stand out amongst the one-game-with-fifty-names it's competing with you might as well not buy it, because it's no different to any other shooter out there. Without being unique, Halo will quickly be lost in a market full of generic and samey games.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that thinks that armour looks hideous. I mean seriously, what were they thinking?

So, uhh, I sorta got the Krogan Soldier in a VetPack. And after only two games it ranked up from 2 to 10. Every single game I use it I get atleast 15 melee kills. And then ofcourse theres the fact that you have so much health. It's ace! Can just charge in and still walk out in one piece with a hefty sum added to your score.

"The Characters You WANTED To Play Pack!"

I'll take two.

On the subject of the Charge + Nova combo (my two most favouritest abillities ever) I use them the other way round. First I charge into a group of enemies, then follow up instantly with Nova and finish them off. And who remain get a biotic punch to the face. It's very effective, it really is. And if by some change there are more enemies than a few melee's can handle then that's when Shockwave comes in handy. Seriously I think the Vanguards, particularly the Human ones, get some of the best ability combinations ever.

In my opinion, Armor lock is good for the suicide grunts (Although it's like cheating in slayer),

What is the issue with Armour Lock, guys? Seriously, I've never had issue with it. True, I've seen it be used in a "noobish" way, but everytime that happened he guy using it died. The only time anyone using Armour Lock has ever beaten me is if they've been using it effectively, not the typical spam that everyone but me seems to face. Have I just been very lucky with the games I've gotten into or something?

...Or for the same anti-everything massacre effect, you could just use the CE pisol. And that doesn't require mods.

Just updated the Chakram. I may update the Raijin, ideas?

Yes, making it a pile of scrap, thereby giving myself and everyone else a fair shot at winning.

So I was playing Wars and I have to say this: ODSTs RULE!!!! I was dropping them wherever I wanted them. Too bad they don't look like Halo 3 ODST's ODSTs.

On account of the Wars' bad graphics :P Nah, I'm joking. I quite like the look of Wars, it just suits the game. It's different to CE, but I wouldn't say inferior. Like whoever it was said, there two different types of games and comparing them shouldn't really happen.

Anyways, one of my friends was bragging about how he found all the skulls and terminals. When I inquired as to how he found them, I learned he used online guides and friends who had used online guides. His is a hollow victory, I'm gonna find them by actually finding them... yup, 's gonna be a while.

#349052 Waiting to Respawn

I decided to the Christmas special first. The actual episode only needs a little more editing (look at me all ahead of schedule) and will be up before the new year. However, the follow special does include Blu and the WtR soundtrack. So, I've had to bring "Nem's Handy Guide to the Waiting to Respawn Soundtrack" forward. And here it is!

Nem's Handy Guide to the Waiting to Respawn Soundtrack

Y'know how Blu only ever plays music down his mic? Well this is so that I have an excuse to add some music to the background of the comic for extra atmosphere and feeling, as well as some humorous touches. To work the soundtrack is very simple, before the comic itself I will post a link to the desired song. When you see a music note being 'said' by Blu, that is your queue to follow the link and play whatever song is awaiting for you on the other end as backing music for the comic your reading. No peeking, though! It may ruin the surprise. And really, that's all there is to it. Very simple, huh?

So lets try this out and see how it works, please give me feedback as to whether or not it's a good idea and all that stuff.

A personal Christmas favourite of mine I said no peeking! Wait until you're told to click it.

a thin crust of civilized behavior over a rampaging, blood thirsting monster.

And this is why I didn't like them as much in Halo 3. Its great that they were finally more fun to fight, but then they were replacing the Elites, so they had to be. Like I've said before, all Halo 3 did was give the Brutes a little face lift so they could pretend that they belonged in the Covenant. It's like me putting on a beret and combats and walking into the nearest cadet detachment. I look the part, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm not actually a cadet. At Least in Halo 2 they accepted that they didn't fit in a just went with it. They even used human weapons. The Brutes can look as civilised and colourful as they want. Shoot the armour off them and they're still just the space gorillas from Halo 2, and so they're aren't really that Covenant-y.

liek naow. Seriously, you've all stated clearly that you have different likes and see each Brute having their pros and cons.

Which as everyone knows totally means that this is going to turn into an argument.
