^So, better music than the first game then? :P

I really want to try PoE2, but I feel like I should go ahead and finish PoE1 first. I'm probably almost there...

#487088 Official Wulfgard Q&A Topic

Posted by Saber-Scorpion on 07 May 2018 - 02:16 PM

I have a slightly boring but somewhat necessary world-building question.

What units of measurement does the Empire use?  The older Roman-style system with Cubits and such, or the medieval English standard with the early versions of our beloved Ounces, Yards, etc.?  I wasn't sure which terms would be correct for writing roleplays and the like.

Varies by location, and preference. The Empire still officially uses the old Roman style, but kingdoms like Illikon have unofficially switched to their own systems (English). I'm pretty sure we've referenced both in some Wulfgard stories.

#487083 Gwent, Hearthstone, and other silly card games

Posted by Saber-Scorpion on 06 May 2018 - 05:30 AM

Apparently Gwent is going to undergo some major changes in a few months, in preparation for going out of beta at long last. They're even talking about removing one of the rows from the board! Which I think is a good idea, honestly.
But before things change, here's one last deck that I actually put together myself instead of netdecking. It's not that strong, but it's pretty solid and fun & easy to play:
Cards List:
King Radovid V
1x John Natalis
1x Keira Metz
1x Shani
1x Ciri: Nova
1x Thaler
1x Trollololo
1x Vincent Meis
1x Prince Stennis
1x Decoy
1x Reinforcements
2x Tridam Infantry
2x Kaedweni Sergeant
2x Kaedweni Cavalry
2x Redanian Elite
2x Kaedweni Knight
2x Redanian Knight
2x Redanian Knight-Elect
2x Reconnaissance
Always mulligan Kaedweni Knight first. Then just try to fish out as many silver/gold cards as you can, while ensuring that you don't have ALL of your Tactic cards in hand (so that John Natalis will have one to draw from the deck).
If you think your enemy will use weather (Eredin or Dagon decks, usually), keep those Sergeants ready.
Just kinda play to win but save your best cards if you can.
If you have a Kaedweni Cavalry or two in hand, then I like to kick off by playing a Redanian Elite or Knight and using the Kaedweni Cavalry to remove their armor. You don't want to have Kaedweni Cavalry in hand for Round 3 if you have Vincent, so go ahead and use them.
A good power play is to drop Prince Stennis and then play him again with Decoy. He's a great card to use on Round 1 if you have Shani in hand to resurrect him on Round 3.
And of course use the Knight-Elects as early as possible for maximum value. If they lose their armor, Keira can fix them with her Thunderbolt potion or whatever it's called.
If you won Round 1, then drop Thaler to force your opponent to play a card even if they still have one on the board. Then just dry-pass.
If you lost Round 1, then you'll just have to hope the enemy doesn't bleed you too hard...
Just play the best you can while saving Ciri: Nova and/or Vincent for your final play. Vincent is often actually stronger than Ciri if there is sufficient armor on the board.
The biggest weakness of this deck is that your leader, Radovid, is your only offensive card. So save him for as long as you can to deal with the worst enemy threats and value-engines. Try to save him for Round 3 if you can.

Good suggestions, all! The gladiator mask or fencing helmet could work...
Here's another Eredin photo and a SW 'fig for May the 4th!

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Still not sure the best way to do it... LEGO helmets are all so bulky...
Anyway, here's Eredin!:

Thanks; I forgot to post her! :P

Hey, guys! I have a question! Does anyone know a good helmet and mace/shield for Imlerith? Here's what he looks like:

I basically just need a roundish helmet that I could put a sticker on, really. I feel like I've seen a helmet that would be perfect, but I just can't think of where. I can use a sticker for the face holes.

Suggestions about the mace & shield he uses in the game would be cool too, but less important:

EDIT: Shoulder armor suggestions are also welcome, lol.

#487036 Official Wulfgard Q&A Topic

Posted by Saber-Scorpion on 20 April 2018 - 01:57 PM

Question time!

1. Do Mind-flayers exist in Wulfgard, or would that just be an Octopus Beast-Man?

2. How exactly do Demon-Summoning Circles work?

3. Is it possible to create Portals between different dimensions? Say, for instance, would it be possible to create a gateway between the main world of Wulfgard into the Underworld? Or would that be an impossible feat of magic?

1) Nope, they don't exist. In fact, we have not delved into psionics (psychic powers/magic) at all in Wulfgard, and may never do so. Spirit magic is usually used for mind tricks instead, like delving into a person's thoughts and dreams.

But yes, the Octopians are probably the closest to a humanoid Cthulhu looking race... that we know about. :ninja:

2) A mage carefully draws a circle (using runes, salt, candles, or some other precise combination of artifacts and enchantments) according to the prescribed method. The purpose of this circle is to contain whatever otherworldly power the mage is about to summon. So long as there are no flaws in the circle, the outsider (demon, elemental, etc.) cannot cross it to attack the summoner or escape.

Note that a summoning circle is usually NOT itself a portal - it's more like a cage, to trap whatever the mage summons.

3) It's possible but extremely difficult, and portals between realms are frequently unstable and deteriorate quickly.

Creating a portal usually involves the mage traveling to both the entry and exit points and carving the necessary enchanted runes, etc. For example, Imperial magi once created a portal inside a triumphal arch in the Imperial city and then linked it to an arch on the Northern border, to transport armies. Results were mixed (one army simply disappeared to gods know where), so the portal was disabled, especially after the death of the Mage-Emperor and outlawing of magic. The point is, they had to travel to both ends of the portal before activating it.

Opening a portal without knowing its exact exit point is risky, especially when that exit point is in another realm of existence. It probably would not stay open for long, and there's no telling what could come out of there before it closed.

Fleshtone debates aside, they're still quite shnazzy, as always.

Besides, as long as we have the option to keep buying in original yellow, I'll raise no objections.

Padme carrying the wrong blaster, though, I will object to.  But only slightly.  >.>  I don't know if anyone even makes the E-5 blaster for minifigs, anyway.

Dalton may also have been referring to the fact that I was, uh, never the biggest fan of the SW prequels.

Yeah, I didn't have a battle droid blaster for Padme. I also wanted to use a gun that I sell in my shop. :P  :10coinz:  :10coinz:  :10coinz:

#487007 Scorp's Art & Writing

Posted by Saber-Scorpion on 13 April 2018 - 03:40 PM

...Can you teach me?

Hah, I wouldn't be a very good teacher. I'm still trying to learn. There are some pretty good tutorials on YouTube... not great, but good. I wish they explained things more clearly. Half the time, they just draw and say vague stuff. :P

Anyway, the Gwent art contest voting has started, so go VOTE FOR ME!

Aaaargh, seeing my art next to the other entries really drives home how oversaturated it is I KNEW i should have desaturated it aaaarrrrghhhh  :brickwall:
