Human Nature
07-05-14

Human nature,
Is a two faced thing,
It can be glorious,
It can be oppressive…

Today I talk,
Of the darker side,
Of human nature,
The one of a monster…

Unneeded hate,
Sprouts and grows,
Growing into,
Burning hot, flaring fury…

One that will,
Fuel a war machine,
For years and years,
To come…

Countless deaths,
All because of unneeded hate,
Unfeeling fury,
That is human nature…

Hate is,
Human nature,
Let the blood run,
We will always find a way…

Glorious destruction,
Escalates,
Ascending into,
Cold, desolate wastelands…

Devastation that,
Blights a place,
For thousands of years,
Years of barren nothingness…

Hellish badlands,
All because of glorious destruction,
Burning devastation,
That’s human nature…

Devastation is,
Human nature,
Let the blood run,
We will always find a way…

Ageless conflicts,
Continues,
Becoming terrible,
Never ending wars…

War that,
Kills millions,
For decades,
Decades of lost generations…

Countries devoid of life,
All because of God forsaken war,
Unceasing conflicts,
That is human nature…

War is,
Human nature,
Let the blood run,
We will always find a way…

A poem I unveil a day, a comment I receive a month. Feedback would be much appreciated.

Omnius mille passus expeditio, omnis fossa bellum.

The Day
09-11-2012

This day,
So many were lost,
So many were shocked,
How do we comprehend?

The first sent out a shockwave, the second a tidal wave…
How could this happen?
So many watched in horror, so many cried…
How do we comprehend?

This act of aggression,
Will not go unheeded…
Ready the troops, supply the anger, the hatred, the rage…
How do we comprehend?

That day we watched, since then we fought…
But today, and all the years that follow…
We remember, we shall never forget,
Always remembering that day…

Omnius mille passus expeditio, omnis fossa bellum.

Devastation
06-25-12

In the night,
Rockets and missiles soar,
Bullets fly,
People killed,
Buildings collapse,
The innocent are crushed…

Devastation

Charging forward,
Opening fire,
The bloodlust taking over,
Blindly killing, blindly hurting,
Blindly destroying…

Devastation

A nuclear warhead aimed,
The city is full of civilians,
Your troops and hostiles,
Collateral damage,
The warhead launches…

Devastation

Hiding in the ruins,
Emerging from the rubble,
Coated in nuclear dust,
Surrounded by the fallen,
The innocent, the enemy,
The ruins all around…

Devastation

The sounds of devastation fills your ears,
Screaming in agony, unsuppressed gunfire,
Crying of a baby left to take on the world, alone,
A dog whimpering and licking its dead owner,
Thundering explosions and artillery,
A small child crying for its parents…

Devastation

Each leader is taken,
To the cutting board,
One by one, they fall in line,
No escape, no rescue,
The axe falls…

Devastation

Is this the future?
The blood flows, non-stop,
The cries of agony rise in volume,
The orphans multiply,
The babies cry ever louder,
The world will become covered in radiation…

Devastation

The world will be devastated!

Omnius mille passus expeditio, omnis fossa bellum.

Do Not Tell Me
07-08-14

Do not tell me of happiness,
Such things irk me.
Tell me of depression,
Maybe I’ll listen…

Do not tell me of the Sun,
It’s bright and burning,
Tell me of the Moon,
It is sorrow’s friend…

Do not tell me of warmth,
Fires burn hot and fast.
Tell me of permafrost,
It reminds me of my cold, dead heart…

Do not tell me of green meadows,
They do not last long.
Tell me of lifeless deserts,
There are none to bother me…

Do not tell me of love,
I don’t believe in such a thing.
Tell me of heartbreak,
Then I will relate…

Do not tell me of peace,
It never lasts.
Tell me of war,
There heroes are forged…

Do not tell me of kindness,
For I have received none.
Tell me of ignorance,
It is bliss…

Do not tell me of water,
It kills thousands.
Tell me of poison,
Its touch comforting…

Do not tell me of life,
It is overdone.
Tell me of death,
They are forgotten…

Do not tell me of beauty,
It is all a lie.
Tell me of scars,
They are the marks of pain…

Do not tell me of touch,
Those things aren’t there.
Tell me of pain,
It numbs what I feel…

Do not tell me of celebrities,
They’re nothing but fakes.
Tell me of soldiers,
They are heaven’s warriors…

Do not tell me of laughter,
It is misused.
Tell me of tears,
Those do not lie…

Do not tell me of hearts,
Mine does not beat.
Tell me of eyes,
There the pain resides…

Do not tell me of miracles,
Those are long gone.
Tell me of disaster,
Those happen every day…

Omnius mille passus expeditio, omnis fossa bellum.

When I’m Gone
07-08-14

When I’m gone,
When I’m six feet under,
When I’m lowered into the ground,
When I close my eyes for the last time…

When I’m gone,
Promise,
That’ll you remember,
My face…

When I’m gone,
Promise,
That you’ll remember,
My words…

When I’m gone,
Promise,
That you’ll remember,
My work…

When I’m gone,
Promise,
That you’ll remember,
My worlds…

When I’m gone,
Promise,
That you’ll remember,
My life…

When I’m gone,
Promise,
That you’ll remember,
My rare smiles…

When I’m gone,
Promise,
That you’ll remember,
My scare laughter…

When I’m gone,
Promise,
That you’ll remember,
My time…

When I’m gone,
Promise,
That you’ll remember,
What I stood for…

When I’m gone,
When I’m six feet under,
When I’m lowered into the ground,
When I close my eyes for the last time…

When I’m gone,
Promise me,
That you’ll always remember and never forget,
Me…

Dancing
07-15-14

Two years I danced,
Two years left…
One of my favorite things,
Now, I’m not so sure…

Two days,
For some church activity,
Service, devotional, eh…
Dance, oh yes!

Dance starts and,
I’m full of energy!
Half way through,
I came to realize…

It’s not fun anymore…
All those in the circle, so boring,
No creativeness, no originality,
Just the same dull thing, again and again…

I take a step back,
I go towards the wall,
Lean my back, lift my head,
It’s not the same…

Omnius mille passus expeditio, omnis fossa bellum.

I tried my best to mend…
I became broken, abused, and misused,
And she left me heartbroken…

The Wise Man and the Warrior
07-15-14

There once was a warrior,
Seeking advice.
He found a wise man,
The warrior asked for knowledge.

Knowledge you seek?
Aye, I do.
Ask then.
How do I become more powerful?

You are a great warrior,
A bringer of Death, but not Death himself.
Learn to heal or,
Else you will feel what it truly means to be powerless.

The warrior scoffed and left.
Years later, his beloved was fatally wounded,
Holding her bleeding body in his arms,
The wise man’s words came to his mind; it stung like an angry hornet…

For You
07-16-14

For you, I’d do a lot of things,
So many things…
No matter that you don’t acknowledge me,
I’ll be there for you…

No matter what you do to me,
No matter how much pain you cause me…
I will fight,
For you.

I will be there for you,
Till my heart is black and blue.
I will be there for you,
Even when my heart is red and dead…

I care not for happiness,
Such things are not worthwhile.
I wish not for others to be saddened,
And I’ll do this especially…

For you…

Birds of a Feather
07-22-14

Birds of a feather,
Die together,
But, not because of love,
But, of two birds, one stone

Where I dwell
07-23-14

Where I dwell, there is darkness, great darkness.
Where I dwell, light is a lie.
Where I dwell, there is blood, enough to drown the planet.
Where I dwell, water is non-existent, except for it in the form of tears.
Where I dwell, happiness is a trap.
Where I dwell, sadness is a guarantee.
Where I dwell, love is dead.
Where I dwell, hate is all you feel, the other is pain.
Where I dwell, Heaven has locked me out.
Where I dwell, Hell’s gates are open.
Where I dwell, water is poison.
Where I dwell, blood heals.
Where I dwell, angels forsake you.
Where I dwell, demons comfort and soothe.
Where I dwell, family and friends know nothing.
Where I dwell, strangers understand and care.
Where I dwell, I’m still alone…

To Love Someone Who Doesn’t Believe in Love
07/31/14

To love someone who doesn’t believe in love,
You must do,
Many things.
First,

Listen to what he has to say,
Truly listen.
Look for a deeper meaning,
Do not tire of listening.

Listen no matter what,
Even if it’s just rambling.
For you may be,
The only one willing to…

Look him in the eyes,
Take a long look.
Try to uncover,
What lies beneath…

For more than meets the eye.
Many things hide,
Beneath tired and dulled eyes.
Discover it…

When he is silent,
Talk about anything.
It doesn’t matter,
Just talk…

He’s listening,
He may not speak,
But he’s listening.
All that matters is someone acknowledges his existence…

When he’s hurting,
Truly hurting.
Say nothing,
Hold him close…

Do not bother talking,
For actions speak louder than words,
Much louder.
Hold him…

When he’s broken,
Help him find the pieces,
Some are on the surface,
Others are deep within…

Help him as much as you can,
Search diligently with him.
Piece them back together,
For his heart is a puzzle…

When he’s lost,
Guide him.
Be his light,
Lead him to love…

He may stumble,
He may trip,
He may fall,
But keep him going…

Once he smiles or laughs,
You’ve broken his shell.
He’s comfortable around you,
You’re one of the very few…

Do not misuse this,
For he trusts you.
Don’t lose it,
For it is hard to regain…

When he’s afraid to be around you,
When he looks away,
When he stays to talk at the end of class,
When he struggles to speak…

He’s fallen for you.
Do not push him away,
He’ll just be heartbroken,
But, you’d never know…

He’d stop talking,
He’ll stop waiting,
He won’t look away,
He won’t be afraid…

He’ll merely die slowly,
He’ll begin to hide,
He’ll crawl back into his shell,
His heart will break…

To love a person who doesn’t believe in love,
You must,
Never stop caring, never stop loving, and never forget,
For he hasn’t…

I’m Sorry
07/31/14

I’m sorry for being a retard,
I’m sorry for being weak,
I’m sorry for being afraid,
I’m sorry for being unfaithful,
I’m sorry for being disrespectful,
I’m sorry for being lazy,
I’m sorry for being angry,
I’m sorry for being a recluse,
I’m sorry for being silent,
I’m sorry for being stoic,
I’m sorry for being insane,
I’m sorry for being hateful,
I’m sorry for being uncaring,
I’m sorry for being unlearning,
I’m sorry for being unwanting,
I’m sorry for being annoying,
I’m sorry for being unwilling,
I’m sorry for being pessimistic,
I’m sorry for being ugly,
I’m sorry for being disgraceful,
I’m sorry for being unlikeable,
I’m sorry for being unfeeling,
I’m sorry for being disgusting,
I’m sorry for being lonely,
I’m sorry for being broken,
I’m sorry for being shy,
I’m sorry for being weird,
I’m sorry for being forgettable,
I’m sorry for being trusting,
I’m sorry for being unrelateable,
I’m sorry for being hated,
I’m sorry for being different,
But, most importantly, I’m sorry for being myself…

So I May Understand
07-31-14

I want to be destructive,
I want to be cruel,
I want to be heartless,
I want to be dreaded,
I want to be detestable,
I want to be unfeeling,
I want to be uncaring,
I want to be unloving,
I want to be stoic,
I want to be cold,
I want to be feared,
I want to be scary,
I want to be all this,
So I may understand,
Why I’m hated…

Why I Am What I Am
07-31-14

I’m cruel,
I’m horrible,
I’m heartless,
I’m uncaring,
I’m terrible,
I’m hateful,
I’m unloving,
I’m cold,
I’m stoic,
I’m destructive,
I’m dark,
I’m depressing,
I’m pessimistic,
I’m deathly,
Why I am what I am,
Is because I was treated this way…

Don’t You Remember?
07-31-14

When we were in health class,
Doing a silly activity,
When I was your lifeline,
With you holding onto me…

You and I so close, yet so far,
You in my arms,
Holding tight,
We were looking into another’s eyes…

The substitute teased,
Thought we had planned this,
I wish we had,
It was something to remember…

During the entire time,
With you holding onto me,
Did you not feel anything?
A spark? Anything?

When I was your lifeline,
And you holding onto me tightly,
As we looked in another’s eyes,
Don’t you remember?

Omnius mille passus expeditio, omnis fossa bellum.

Silence
08-01-14

Here I am,
Writing again.
Poetry is how I talk,
How I convey emotion…

What I feel,
What I truly feel.
What I remember, what I write,
It hurts…

I am the silent type,
Behind my close mouth.
I wish to scream,
To tell the world I exist…

But, I remain silent.
I stay in back,
There no one will notice,
There no one will care…

I may be the silent type,
But, since I am letting all to see how I truly feel,
What I hold deep inside,
The silence hurts…

NOTE: I hope those who may read this understand this poem, hopefully they figure out what I have said...

Do Not Tell Me and Silence were a couple of my favorites (and a few other poems from the first page). :)

If you are feeling a bit discouraged because of the lack of comments, don't be. Remember why you started writing in the first place.

Just keep doing what your doing and improving upon yourself day by day.

I can tell you love anaphora by the way haha. One of my favorite devices to use.

Thank you, that means a lot to me. Huh, didn't know anaphora was a thing. Seems I've been using it a lot lately. Well, here's a new poem.

I Want to See

08-01-14

I want to see,

What would happen,

If,

I died…

Would anyone go to my funeral?

Would anyone shed meaningful tears?

Would anyone be pained by my disappearance?

Would anyone have a hard time adjusting?

Would anyone visit my grave?

Would flowers adorn my grave?

Would my friends try to remember the good times?

Would anyone get confused why?

Would anyone take a deeper look?

Would anyone find my drawings?

Would anyone find my poems?

Would anyone realize how I truly felt?

Would anyone figure out why?

Would anyone realize what I truly meant?

Would anyone uncover my deep, dark secrets?

Would anyone be angered at themselves that they didn’t realized?

Importantly enough,

Would anyone realize what they had done to cause this?

But, most important,

Would anyone miss me?

I want to see,

What would happen,

If I,

Died…

Do You Fear Death?
08-01-14

Dear child,
Do you fear Death?
I don’t,
For I find it to be bliss…

Realization
08-01-14

Lying in bed,
Thinking,
Remembering,
Crying…

Any other night really,
This time,
It’s different…
I’ve come to realize…

Why do I draw?
Why do I write?
Seems I’m just wasting time,
And my life…

Art goes unseen.
Poetry goes unread.
Why do I pursue such trivial things?
I’ll never be renowned, not even remembered…

Not even my peers remember me,
I’m just another body,
Being shuffled,
In this deck we call life…

Tonight I’ve experienced,
Realization…
I’ll never be renowned, I’ll never be famous, I’ll never be remembered…
Take this as my resignation…

What Love Can Do
08-23-14

Love is a strange thing,
It can do many things,
It can have strange effects,
For love is a bittersweet mistress…

Love can bring about,
Happiness, togetherness, belonging.
It can even create,
Life…

It can bind two people,
Together eternally,
More so if life,
Is created…

What love can do,
It can prevent one to commit suicide,
It can bring one back to light,
It can prevent the downfall of another.

What love can do,
Is many things.
It can create yes,
But…

It can also destroy,
Just like,
It destroyed,
Me…

Love can bring about,
Misery, hate, jealousy.
It can even cause,
Death…

It can end a person,
Death eternal,
More so if regret,
Is present…

What love can do,
It can cause one to commit suicide,
It can take one to darkness,
It can prevent the happiness of another.

What love can do,
Is many things.
It can create yes,
But…

It can also destroy,
Just like,
It destroyed,
Me…

Good job on this one.
I like it when poems say so much with few words.

Thanks, this was a random one when mowing the lawn listening to Breaking Benjamin's 'Firefly' over and over again. I too like short poems as well, so much power in so little words. I've only written four poems like this, and I do wish to write more.

Thanks Amarok. I'll try, I just need the emotions, ideas, and motivation to write.

Well, here's a new one.

Broken Promises

09-08-14

Broken promises,

Are like,

Broken glass and lost trust,

You can never rebuild what you've broken,

Nor can you regain what you've lost....
