It's an SSLF CYOA!

MS Paint Adventures has inspired me to try my own hand at a Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) story. It will be easier to draw and keep up with while the webcomic is on hold, I hope. This is because I will be adopting a more simplistic, cartoonish art style to save time. It will also have that MSPA 'video game' look where the character is a sort of 'sprite' hovering over the background in most shots, except when performing an important action.

I haven't worked out the style completely yet, but we'll get to that once we've kicked off. I'm just too eager to get started.

Here's how it will work:

STEP 1: Picking a character archetype. The first CYOA will be set in Wulfgard. If all goes well, I'll do a Nova Refuge one later. Each archetype will explore a different part of the Wulfgard world. I'm trying to pick unusual things here that most people would not 'role-play,' in order to keep things interesting and explore areas of Wulfgard that might otherwise not be experienced. ;) Just vote on one of these archetypes in the poll above:

IMPERIAL PEASANT - You are a young peasant in the Imperial village of Stonebridge. Where you go in life is up to you.
TEMPLARIA SCULPTOR - You are an impoverished Imperial artist who creates statues of the gods for the temples in Templaria.
SHAMAN'S HELPER - You are the assistant of a shaman in a Northern village. It's a privileged position... sort of.
TRAVELING SALESMAN - You are a very poor Southerner who scavenges anything he can find and then goes looking for suckers customers who might purchase it.
DWARVEN CART-PULLER - You are a mountain dwarf whose job it is to pull the cart of a merchant who travels between the underground city of Duringard and the surface world of the North.
ELVEN WOODCUTTER - You are a Light Elf whose job it is to cut down trees for lumber. Like, for buildings and stuff. It's a dirty job for an elf, but somebody's gotta do it.

Whoever wins the poll will be the first character. If you guys manage to get him/her killed, we might just move on to the runner-up.

...

We'll get to the other steps later. I don't want to overwhelm you. :P

I might even work some 'medals' (like the contest rewards) you can earn into this game, but I won't say how.

Hope this turns out to be fun! Vote, and feel free to discuss.

I'd say start off with the peasant, since that would allow him to go around and eventually meet all the other characters while he engages in peasant shenanigans and retrieving his arms from the hay.

Also a peasant is a very flexible character type, which means you can adapt him/her for just about any situation without it seeming too far-fetched.

Hey cool, a choose your own adventure thing. I was gonna do one of these, but as a story instead of a comic. Too bad I'm lazy. :P

As all of you know, I'm a big fan of pulling carts. Gotta go with the Dwarf.

Dwarven cart-puller is the way to go. Dwarves are always great characters, and I really want an inside view of dwarven society. So far everything has pretty much been humans (but I'm not complaining, cuz I love the human factions) and I wanna have more info on dwarves!

Then out spake brave Horatius,

The Captain of the Gate:

"To every man upon this earth Death cometh soon or late.

And how can man die better

Than facing fearful odds,

For the ashes of his fathers,

And the temples of his gods."

You are an IMPERIAL PEASANT. Possible exits are NORTH, SOUTH, WEST, and DENNIS.
(I have named him LON QUILLOW, while I'm still pretending.)

Yeah, couldn't stop myself. I might draw the other five if everyone promises to vote peasant :P

EDIT:

You are a DWARVEN CART-PULLER. Possible exits are UP, since you're UNDERGROUND right now.

EDIT:

You are a TRAVELING SALESMAN. You are dirt-broke and must find some MONEY.
>INV
You check your BACKPACK. You are carrying:
3 RUSTY SPOONS
2 PANS
16 BROKEN ARROWS
A KNIFE-HANDLE
4 SMOOTH PEBBLES
6 PIECES OF BOOT HEEL

I vote the Traveling Salesman, because he'd get into all kinds of hilarious situations when people get angry with him for ripping them off and selling them crap. ^_^

Hahaha, well I see Doodstormer has the right idea! :D I still haven't hammered down the exact art style I'm going to use, but those look great.

This could of course get very comical. Or it could get epic. Or it could just end horribly. ITS UP TO YOU GUYS! :P

I think I'll close the poll either late tomorrow or on Saturday, so get your votes in. :)

Heck I might even make a little short comic if no one else will. :P
