Can you really play a game where the weapons take up a full third of the screen space? The sight on the one in the first shot sticks up so high it might as well periscope. Also, in this screen:

the gun's barrel isn't pointing at the reticule on screen.

I can't find much else to complain about with blurry cellphone camera pictures...

EDIT - Except for the horrific, Playstation 1 level textures on the cliffs in the background of the first picture; what up wit dat?

I think the guy confirmed you have 5 squadmates.

And you also have a single "Perk". The known perks so far are: Sprinting, Cloaking and Hologram. So, you can run faster than everyone else, be invisible for a bit or make a holographic target dummy for the enemies to shoot at...............

When using a rocket launcher, accuracy is less important than the weapon itself.

Wow, the game hasn't even been completely finished and you guys are nitpicking and calling it a generic FPS. You guys are so funny.

It's likely crappy pre-alph geometry. The weapons look wonderful.

This is using a new engine, and supposidly the polished graphics will look as good as Killzone 2, which is quite a feat.

It certainly looks generic, at least. All FPSes are required by law to be either about gritty brown and grey soldiers or space marines wearing colourful Power Ranger suits, because everyone wants to look like Call of Duty or Halo, and since these shots look very much like Halo they are, by definition, generic. Q.E.D. Also, on the intertron all things must be discussed ad nauseam, and when such little information is provided the natural progression is toward nitpicking. Nits must be picked, you know.

Probably. The weapons do look great; they have that Killzone look that I can't really describe, like a mixture of brushed steel and plastic that kind of looks real but not really but still really neat looking (told you I couldn't describe it). I hope that, since they're building a whole new engine for the game, they'll take some time to redo the character animations. In playing Halo you never feel like you're controlling a dude in an armoured super suit, you just glide along. If Killzone 2 is what they're aiming for I hope they'll steal the exaggerated bobbing head movements that make you feel like the being you're controlling has some weight. They don't need to sluggerise the aiming speed like Killzone, but some feedback would be nice. And, when my character presses a button, I want to see his finger reach out and press the button. That irritates me to no end in FPSes. And it wouldn't kill them to work on their face models for cutscenes and such. Buck in ODST looks like somebody printed out a picture of Nathan Fillion and glued it to his face.

Yeah, character models in Halo have never been it's strongest point.

Hopefully Bungie realizes this now.

Remember in ODST, when there were those first-person shots straight after a cut scene and before you actually controlled the character? Yeah, the movement should be like in those.

Fan statements : Maybe because they are wielded by smaller soldiers/marines.

Creators' statement : Because size does matter.

Technical reason : They are new guns, the old ones are probably the same size.

Spartans are augmented to run around like Gods. Thats why they aren't slowed by their heavy armor. In ODST however, its you playing as your standard meat shield. When you crouch walk, you move up and down with each step.

Also, I doubt thats a new Battle Rifle. After all, it is 2552 when Reach was glassed. And besides, the Battle Rifle dated back to 2525 in Contact Harvest.

It's probably just another model, or a similar gun used in stealth mission, or commando. Something...

I'm assuming its the MA5K, although its depiction on Ghosts of Onyx looks close to that in the game. You can make out a rail on top of the rifle that the scope is mounted on.

And this Spartan Laser. What if it was the "prototype" ? You know, before the final version of Halo 3, there was this Spartan with a wider and multiple beam... You think they used that one ? I'm just waiting for the day where every Halo weapons featured in the games will be at the same place. You know, silent and normal SMG, 32-60 bullets AR, lock-on and normal rocket launcher. Sniper and sniper with NIGHT VISION ( I miss that one, really ). It'd be hell, but hell of fun too.

This is a new engine, correct? Because I can't see any substantial differences between the graphics and the HUD as compared to Halo 3.
