Obsidian confirmed.

InXile is also acquired. They're responsible for Wasteland 2, upcoming 3, etc.

No joke, you could literally do just that. Xbox One and a game pass sub. You got access to all the exclusives. All 2 of them XD. But in seriousness

-Halo MCC (which is now fixed, and has CE, 2, 3, ODST, and 4 with CE and 2 remastered with new graphics)

-Halo 5 (bad story, but still very fun campaign, great multiplayer and custom games but no splitscreen so....monkey's paw)

-Sunset Overdrive (all the 90s you can handle and more.)

-Quantum Break (eehhhhhhhhh, but still, basically free)

-Forza Horizon 4 (ye boi, now we talking.)

-Super Lucky's Tale (asides from like the most inoffensive marketing ever and completely forgettable at that, still surprisingly fun if you're looking for a 90s platformer throwback)

-Entire Gears of War series (all very good games)

-Ryse (I mean, it's aight)

-State of Decay 1 and 2 (pretend 1 doesn't exist and enjoy 2. Not my kind of game, but very good management game.)

-Fable series

and that's just the exclusives. It's got tons of 3rd party support. Many of Bethesda's published games like Doom, Wolf TNO, Fallout 3/4, etc. are on there, Metro series, Tomb Raider, stuff from the 360 and even OG xbox days like Star Wars KOTOR

I can hold out hope. If Netflix is getting to do this, this means they might have some claim to the rights. If the ATLA remake is successful, it could fund a 3rd series as a netflix exclusive. They'd be crazy not to given how Voltron has gone for them.

Also got some Octopath Traveler for ya.

I've put it in a neat little imgur folder for ya.

#487775 What Are You Currently Playing?

Posted by Spark on 15 July 2018 - 02:10 PM

So I'm playing Octopath Traveler.

About an hour in, I started realizing just how massive an itch I had been having for a good JRPG again. I'm please to say Octopath is scratching it quite nicely.

The combat system is a really nice twist on turn-based (yes, turn-based, not "active time" like the PS1/2 era Final Fantasy games) that's built around a pretty breakneck pace. Best way I can describe it is giving an old school FF game Persona combat.

So there's the 8 characters, and you can start the game as any one of them, and find the rest from there. We've got:

-Ophilia, the Cleric

-Cyrus, the Scholar

-Tressa, the Merchant

-Olberic, the Warrior

-Primrose, the Dancer

-Alfyn, the Apothecary

-Therion, the Thief

-H'aanit, the Huntress

I started with Therion, and have gone on to get Alf, Prim, and Olberic so far.

For better or worse, if you've played a typical JRPG, you're already well aware of what kind of game this is.

A few days after the Halo Infinite trailer dropped, Marty O'Donnell (the composer of the Bungie-era Halo games, and Destiny 1 before he was fired without cause during D1's development) posted a winky wink comment on twitter:

Nobody thought much of it, since it was a piece of music he had come up with years ago. But then, a few days ago, couple of people met up with him at a Seattle coffee shop. You might know some of them.

So that's Joseph Staten (Head writer of the original 3 Halo games, currently works as Overall Senior Creative Director for Microsoft Studios), Jen Taylor (Voice actor of Cortana and Dr. Catherine Halsey) with Marty.

And then just a little bit ago:

Either he's trolling us real good, or Marty's coming back to Halo, and then the WHOLE band is officially back together. Marty, Frankie, Joe Staten, and the voice actors.

Did you leave out Halo Reach on purpose or by accident? :P

Kinda on purpose, but I had changed my mind. I clearly forgot to go back and add it.

I've really soured on Reach these 8 years since it's been out. It introduced a lot of the unpopular gameplay elements that Halo 4 got crucified for, despite being mechanically the same as the former.

And it seems like it went out of its way to introduce problems that compromise the Fall of Reach book, which IMO told the same story, but way better.

I guess I should post the *improved* version of the Halo Infinite trailer

I'm finally gonna sit down and play Halo Wars 2 today. (I should probably mention that as of right now, Halo Wars 1 is on Steam, and in the Summer Sale! HW2 is also on PC, but through the W10 store.)

I've played it on and off, but I haven't bothered to sit down and finish it, because RTS simply isn't really a genre I experience much. But I did keep up with it for the story.

Halo Wars 2 is not just a sequel, but a side-story to a different part of the universe during and after Halo 5: Guardians. The events of HW2 lead me to believe they will be coming into play in Halo Infinite.

Mainly by way of introducing the new faction, the Covenant remnant known as the Banished. Particularly, this is Atriox's story:

Halo has needed replenishment in the Rogues gallery for a while. Atriox and the other ones from Halo 5 are a good start.

That old thread is too old and long winded, I think it's time to start afresh. I'll post in here frequently with my own takes on each piece of the Halo Story I've experienced. And I'll be happy to answer any questions you might post here.

Also there was this neat thing a few days ago.

Yep. Halo Infinite is coming, And it is coming to PC.

I know Halo's an old bag, and most aren't really interested anymore. Kind of saddens me, because of how richly built Halo's mythology has become.

A few useful fan-cultivated (Not me, before anyone asks) links if you're interested in diving in at some point:

Halo Story, and Where to Find it.

The Entire Halo Timeline (Basically your Cliffnotes Chronology)

And also of course, Halopedia, the absolute best place to find out everything you want to know.

And here's my own TL;DR chronological order of the "Important" stuff (there's a lot more, but I don't think they're important for enjoyment)

Next week, June 26th, is the release of Halo: Bad Blood, a sequel to Halo 5: Guardians on the games side, and also a sequel to Halo: New Blood, which itself is a sequel to the old spinoff Halo 3: ODST, Starring everyone's favorite Nathan Fillion, Nathan Fillion as Nathan Fillion Spartan (former ODST) Edward Buck.

I'm gonna begin digging into the series for the very first time after work tomorrow (give them all time to download as well). I was majorly impressed with the DMC5 trailer, so I wanna get in on this action.

Feel free to give me a general user's manual so I'm not walking in like a headless chicken.
