Posted by Princess Floweraven on 21 July 2017 - 02:46 PM

The CLONE WARS have begun, the galaxy plunged once more into a war that will change everything.
Our story follows MASTER TOMU LUKANE, straight-and-narrow Jedi General, his hothead padawan JETTA IRI, and BLACKBIRD SQUAD, a team of expert clone troopers led by an eerily talented commander - SERGEANT RAVEN. Together, they will fight through the many battles of THE CLONE WARS, claw and scratch for their lives, escape by the skin of their teeth, discover epic plots, unearth ancient evils, and eventually see the fall of the Republic, the rise of a new Empire - and even its fall.

This is BLACKBIRD: A Star Wars Story.
This is page one.

Spoiler

Hello there, and welcome to the signups for a new LEGO Star Wars comic I am making - an ambitious project that I plan to finish. This is the triumphant return of LEGO comics to SSLF - and seemingly the internet at large right now.
I've been working on this like crazy recently. This is the result of my effort, with much more to come.
And without further ado, you may sign up for this here comic. I can't promise that I can get everyone in, but tbh it's pretty darn likely, given the scope of the comic.

This comic will be set in the prequel era, obviously (actually it starts there. Important distinction). There will be three main plot threads to start (at least currently): Blackbird Squad and their battles in the Clone Wars, Thomas Lukane and his padawan who will very soon join with Blackbird, and a third plotline following a bounty hunter beginning in the underworld of Coruscant. In case it wasn't clear, this comic will, if all goes well, star in the Clone Wars and end after Episode 6.

I will be drafting in elements of the EU as I see fit, but it's really just an amalgamation of things I feel like. More of an alternate Star Wars, as I might make some very anti-canon plot decisions. We'll see. Either way, the main story will take place within the canonical events of the cinematic Prequel Trilogy-through-Original Trilogy.
Keep in mind that the more unique parts-wise you make your character the more difficult it will be for me to create him/her. Don't be afraid to list whatever part you wish, but just be wary, it's entirely possible I may change every part of your sigfig purely because I don't have the pieces.

Speaking of sigfigs - theoretically you should sign up as your "sigfig," your signature figure, as in a character that represents you in the Star Wars universe or is at least just your favorite personal character for Star Wars. This makes cameos a lot more fun if we see that's it's basically you - but this is not required. Feel free to sign up as something completely unlike you in any way, something you don't even like. For that matter, you may sign up as multiple characters, but be certain to mark which one is your prime character, as I may not be able to add every character and may have to pick one.

But basically, be whatever the heck you want. Bounty Hunter, Clone Trooper, B1 battledroid, Sith, Jedi, Smuggler, Civilian, Admiral, Republic Engineer, bounty hunter, stormtrooper, sith inquisitor (though characters from the OT/just-before-OT won't show up for a while), I don't care. Anything's fine. You can even sign up as a member of Blackbird Squad - although I can't promise a long life.

Name: Here is where you give me your name. Make it cool. Make it Star Wars-y. Make it stupid.
Species: Star Wars has a heckuva lot of races - and you can choose from any EU race. Do whatever you want. Look at the traits of these races and see if you can make a unique character based on the limitations or powers of this race. Or you can be a Twi'lek stripper.
Age: Go wild.
Gender: It's a long long time ago, so they're still primitive barbarians who still believe in two genders dontchaknow
Affiliation: Who does your character role with? Are they part of the Republic, the CIS, a group of Bounty Hunters? Put anything here. Make up your own merc group, put "loner," I don't care. Have fun.
Biography: Describe your character's background. No need to write a novel, but do whatever length you wish. Give me the key details. This is what made your character what they are.
Personality: How does your character interact with others? Are they a jerk or are they morally impeccable?
Catchphrases: Things what your character speaks with his/her wordhole. Be creative. One liners are encouraged, but literally anything's fine so long as it's appropriate.

-If you can provide a picture of your sigfig, do it and negate the following part list, unless there's a piece that's a bit harder to recognize.-
If you have no picture, provide links or pictures to each of the following parts.

Head: The fat yellow (or flesh, or black, or whatever color, we don't discriminate here and I use all of them in this comic) cylinder on your figure's neck stump. This is your face. Do I like it?
Headgear: The thing your character has on their head. If you have this hair, please note if they prefer going helmet/hatless or if they prefer to wear their headgear.
Neckgear: Anything around your figure's neck, be it a cape, pauldrons or whathaveyou.
Hair: . . . hair. It's hair.
Torso: Your dude's bod. Do I like it?
Arms: If there's two different arms and you have not provided a picture, specify which is which and, obviously, the difference.
Hands: Same as above.
Legs: Same as above.
Pelvis: also known as "the belt."
Weapons: What does your figure kill or neutralize with? Are they a sniper, a dual-wielder, a melee fighter, or a pacifist?
Accessories/Anything Else: Things I missed or things the character holds or simply extra things they might have around them - maybe even a pet or heirloom.

Role: This is your character's role in the story - feel free to give me anything. Passing cameo? Extra? Key villain? Good friend? Contact? I may turn you down, but you can give me literally anything here. If you have a good idea for a villain, give me it and I may accept it.
Priority: If you have multiple characters, simply rate them 1 through x (x being the number of characters you have) with 1 being highest on the scale of priority. If I can't make all of your character's, number 1 will be made. If you only have one character, negate this field.
Lifespan: Does your character last a few short scenes before meeting an untimely death like all good redshirts, or do they see the rise and fall of an empire? I may not adhere to your selection here, but I'll try. If you designate your character to die, please dictate how and why here - the circumstance, the means, the motive. Whatevs.
Key Aspects: The most important thing for me to get right about your character above all else.
Notes: Anything I missed, or notes you want to give me.

Go forth - have fun. Giveth unto me great characters with which I can provide you the facade of an interesting comic.

Actually, I have some. Very small news, but good news.

343 Industries has promised that splitscreen will return to Halo 6, and, in fact, all future Halo FPS games.

Thank Christ. Bonnie Ross, a bigwig at 343 said "painful learnings." An odd way to phrase it, but it better have been. It put me off of Halo 5 completely. Seriously, how do you create a sequel to a game and entirely remove a hallmark of the franchise, a couch-co-op feature just like that? What an error.

But that's not even beginning to talk about how much they wrecked the Halo series with 5. Bu that's a different topic, not for this thread. Going forward, this is the first step in the right direction.

I think what they're trying to say is that it works, so why would they change it?

The problem is that even though it works doesn't mean they shouldn't change it. In fact, they should, because cinematic trailers have, tbh, really hindered the mechanical innovation and technological growth of MMOs to the point where they honestly suck now.

Tho I've never liked MMOs all that much. But seriously, cinematics are so misleading, and they need to stop being a thing. Honestly, the screenshots for that expansion got me way more excited for it than that whole cinematic. It looked like Morrowind. Legitimately, it looked like the original game, and it made me giggle.

Just to be that guy (but you also questioned it anyway) it's Eadu, not Erdu. No big deal.

But yeah, I mostly agree with ^Goldy^ - although I have to ask, what made you think those CGI faces were dodgy? In my opinion, those two were the absolute best CGI faces we've ever seen onscreen. They were astonishingly accurate, and the voice actors were spot on. Some of the movement, yes, was odd, but I think if I had (god forbid) never seen any of the Star Wars films and just seen Rogue One, I wouldn't know that those two were CGI. At all.

And especially, when compared to other CGI faces in movies, that was almost revolutionary.

In fact, I thought the CGI in the film, all in all, was some of the best CGI I've seen in a long time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Through the whole thing, I was like, "this is amazing!!!" and every other minute there would be a moment where I was like "OMIGOSH THIS IS AMAAAZZZZINNNNGGG." There was just so much to look at, so much to geek at. The whole film was shot beautifully.

Wait, is that Red Dwarf? lol.
I don't think so, it just kinda reminds me of it.

Well I for one think the campaign is absolutely atrocious and the fact that they try and pass it off as being set in WW1 is quite frankly hilarious.

I will say the multiplayer is a blast, tho.

Anyways, Totalbiscuit agrees with that first part.

Get it? Cause I made Mos Eisley rich instead of poor?
Ahem.

I'm sort of back. Not for long. I figured it wasn't right to leave you hanging for so long.  I'll put up the remainder of my buffers, but there's no guarantee when this will be back in business for realsies.

Longest journey ever, amirite?

#477235 The HALO Topic

Posted by Princess Floweraven on 10 September 2016 - 09:01 AM

I was just under the assumption I could voice my dislike. I'm sorry I assumed.

I agree with Burger, mostly. They're doing cool stuff. But the way they've changed the style, the story, the sounds, the gameplay . . . That's why it's not Halo anymore.
