Man your idea is pretty good do his!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being none to bright, You decide to accuse yourself of being a witch and collect the Inquisition's reward.
After all, you just hypnotised a poor helpless town guard.

You plant a perfunctory peck on the GUARD's cheek.
Meanwhile, you also pillage his pockets and proceed to pilfer his personal posessions.
-1 PURITY (PURITY level changes to SLIGHTLY SOILED)
Apparently this is getting so romantic that you are thinking in alliterative verse.
Once the guard has left, with a bit of a skip in his step, you look down to inspect his purloined valuables.
In addition to 3 SILVER DENARII, you also find 1 MYSTERIOUS NOTE. Of course it is only MYSTERIOUS because you still can't READ. It could very well be a shopping list for all you know. Asking the guard to read his own stolen note would probably be unwise, however.
You have yet to find a JOB.
You could proceed SOUTH to the TOWN SQUARE to find the ACTORS, head NORTH to look for INGREDIENTS, go EAST to get a job cleaning up a HOUSE or the STABLES, or go hunt RATS or WIZARDS. Or do something else entirely.

Then out spake brave Horatius,
The Captain of the Gate:
"To every man upon this earth Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his gods."

There's a difference between "oddness" and brainless, mindscrewing confusion.
