[Saber-Scorpion]

Well, the results are in for the Elemental Contest #2: FIRE! A big thanks to everyone who entered, and to our volunteer judges: Vorgain, Thrawnie, and Nightstalker (who gave comments as well as ratings!). Maverick-Werewolf and myself were also on the judging panel.
Our winners can claim their prize at any time by shooting me a PM or an email and requesting their prize code. If you don't want your prize, you can choose to send it to someone else instead, such as the next runner up.
Without further ado, the results!:

Comments for Style's Entry:
Scorp: A very early stand-out entry with awesome art and awesome Nova Refuge lore to boot. Original, interesting, and very cool - I love the design, and the idea of Mahlok archer assassins. The scene itself is well done too, with the flames under the feet and the broken moon in the background. Plenty of fire! One of my favorite entries. Excellent job!
Nightstalker: Kicking it off with some excellent style (that's my one that I get, if you see anymore bad puns you can boo me)! I really love the fire effects on the helmet and boots. Adding in the river of lava, which really looks like it is in motion, and the exploding volcano add more to the epic firey action! I also really like the attention to detail with the fire reflection in the boots. My only real criticism is that the armor on the shoulders and helmet kind of blend in with the background, and do not seem to pop as well as the sections that have fire. Overall, great entry though!
Comments for Dalton's Entry: 
Scorp: Dang, I hope I don't seem biased toward the Wulfgard and Nova Refuge entries when I say this one is another of my favorites. Fortunately the other judges rated them the highest too! This is an awesome depiction of the opening scene of Knightfall, and so accurate. I like the fact that the flames are not only in the background, but also separating Corben and Victor from Drake. It adds depth compared to your Water contest entry. Nice!
Nightstalker: I feel like someone went ham with fire. This is filled with all sorts of fire that is doing something. More importantly, you even took the time to have it reflect off of the characters. The demon looks pretty darn fierce as well! I especially like that the demon's mouth appears to be getting ready to spit hot fire (insert Dylan reference here). Anyways, this is just filled with action and really captures your inner pyromaniac! Nice Work!

SCORE: 7/10
Scorp: Nice work here! Very creepy. The art style reminds me of something, but I can't put my finger on it. But I like it! Well done.
Nightstalker: This is pretty neat. I know you ripped on your myth making, but I feel like it is the start of something. This guy is engulfed in fire and has a nice spooky look to him. The fire in the skull effect is a nice touch.

Mr. Skeli'n: "Finding Porrair's Crown" - 6.9

Scorp: Really cool scene, very mysterious. Makes me wonder what kind of story lies behind this place. Awesome volcanoes looming in the background too. My only quibble is the "floor" feels weird, like it's lacking in perspective.
Nightstalker: First off, there is a person standing next to the rock. Now onto my comments! I am getting all kinds of dragon/warlock/etc. vibes from this. The volcanoes, lava, and overall feel of this are just amazing! You also did a good job of giving some distance between the temple/ruins/lair and the mountains.

Neyo Wargear: "Metal and Flame" - 6.5

Scorp: Ouch, that was gritty, as promised. Not bad though. And it certainly had fire. I felt like it could have been toned down in a few places, but overall good job!
Nightstalker: That was pretty grim and brutal. Yet at the same time, I felt as though I could actually see all the explosions and fires going off as I read. The end really added in that big need for fire, but I honestly would have liked to see more of it. I could see a few minor issues in the writing, but overall, it was pretty good.

Ter Loki: "Kindling Friendship" - 6

Scorp: A very interesting read! I enjoyed seeing your take on Zegaldorph and his unique position in Nova Refuge, as seen from the point of view of your own character. It was an interesting take on the theme of the contest as well. I must admit though, at least one more prominent, physical use of fire would have pushed the score higher.
Nightstalker: I am not gonna lie, that was a pretty damn good short story! It has so much going for it, and I really got a good feel for both of the characters. I really think you should have saved this one though for a Nova Refuge contest or something akin to it. I do not think that this really fits the direction of this contest though. I was under the impression that the literal use of fire was needed, which this story did have, but it was primarily in the background.

Burger Warrior: "Warframe: Wild Ember" - 6

Scorp: Lots of action! I probably would have understood it better if I knew more about the lore of the game, but even so, it was an entertaining read. Very fast-paced.
Nightstalker: Short, quick, fire, death, and a coherent story. I can appreciate this.

DragonJedi: Entry #2 - 5.8

Scorp: Cool to see a LotR entry! Nice drawing of Gollum. The lava feels a little lacking though, and doesn't feel like it fits the rest of the drawing. Maybe some flames shooting up out of it would have given it the extra push.
Nightstalker: This one is an overall pretty cool drawing. If this had been any other contest (such as an LotR drawing contest), it would have a higher rating. That being said, this is really about the fire. You captured the scene very well and Gollum looks good (I really like the "Oh crap!" look in his eyes), the lava seems rather static and plain.

Lord Capulet: "Wulfgard: One Final Hurdle" - 5.7

Scorp: The build of the vignette itself could have used more fleshing out, but the minifigs are great, and there's plenty of fire and action. Nice job!
Nightstalker: A nice attempt! I am quite envious of those decals though. I feel if you had the required pieces you would have easily fleshed this out into a more fantastic build. Honestly, at some point I hope you do!

Fireraven: "Hargrove's Eleven's Last Outing" - 5

Scorp: Neat cast of characters, and I do enjoy a vignette with lots of action. But it seems like it could have more fire - maybe a few more explosions.
Nightstalker: Good attempt for a LEGO entry. This looks like an interesting little skirmish. The landscaping is not bad and neither is the fig positioning. Unfortunately, this build is lacking in fire. You have a good fire pillar rising, which could be made to look even better by adding in scorched ground, but you really need to let your inner pyro through.

DragonJedi: Entry #1 - 4

Scorp: This looks like a start to a good drawing, but it needs something, you know? The designs of the elemental and the warrior are pretty simple and could have used a little more embellishment. Maybe some more flames on the elemental too.
Nightstalker: I can see where you were going with this one, but it just seems lacking with fire. The fire elemental itself could stand more detail and more design to make it appear more menacing.

No, its fine really I dont even use the shop at all, dont have the means to use it. (Well, maybe just to buy the NR books, hmm), and drawing an image for me is not something I would see fair compared to others who surely made a better entry than me

Meaning it likely won't even make a comeback? Or just have a break? I'd love to see some stuff on NR again, It's been ages. Maybe a contest on writing a national anthem for one of the nations. or establishing a small set of laws for a specific area in the nation or something? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
