Aaaand today I learned that Twitter only allows FOUR poll options, and Facebook only TWO.

So, forums it is then! :P

Everyone vote! And you can of course vote for your own creation. No one will know.

EDIT: I will leave the voting open over the weekend and maybe hold a tie-breaker vote if necessary. That one might fit on Facebook and Twitter...

And now we have five entries!

Maybe that's enough to do the poll, after all? What do you guys think? I would post it in several different places (Twitter, Facebook, here, etc.) and then add up the results.

So, if you're to be the judge of all the entries, does that mean I'll get some feedback for my diorama? Because I'd really like that?

Sure, I can give feedback. :) I really liked your dio, especially the minifigs! Quite a variety, and I always enjoy seeing my stickers put to use. I also really liked the detailed story behind each photo, in the description. The blue & red factions reminded me of Xarkon and Victory. I understand you had trouble working 'earth' into the design, and that's fine. The biggest improvement I would suggest would be tying the whole thing together with a solid base, like a baseplate.

Contest closes the day after tomorrow!

I am reflecting on the failure of this contest. It's interesting, since it comes at a time when my site is getting pretty decent traffic and business, and I'm getting flooded with commission requests. I've advertised the contest on all of my pages, including the front page of the site, and gotten plenty of social media likes, so why won't any of these visitors enter the contest? Some possibilities:

  1. The subject. "Elemental Contest: Earth" is not very specific or very inspiring. People aren't sure what kind of contest it is, what it's about, or what the heck they should build. This has been an ongoing problem with the "elemental" contest series, which is why I was planning to end it after last time, but when I held some polls about what my next contest should be, this idea won. Yet, almost no one entered. So, next time I will pick a more concrete idea like "fantasy minifig contest", or perhaps even more specific, like "Wulfgard faction contest" or "fantasy villain contest", for example.
  2. The forums. I required participants to join the Saber-Scorpion's Lair Forums and post their entries here, in the hopes that it would bring new members to SSLF. But instead, it seems to have simply been a barrier to entry. Next time, I'll let people post entries anywhere, and submit them via social media, forums, or email.
  3. The prizes. I'm beginning to wonder if the "$$ worth of stuff from my shop" is the best idea for prizes. It seems like the ideal prize to me, since you get to pick what you want, but perhaps it's too vague or too boring to attract interest. Maybe it would be better to make some unique prizes and include photos of them.

Anyway, unless there's a surprise flood of last-minute entries, I'm going to forego the public poll judging I mentioned in the first post, and instead simply judge the contest myself. (spoiler: everyone who entered will win something!)

I was determined to get this one posted in time. It's still Sunday somewhere, right?

Glad I managed to make it, even if it was only for the last 2 hours or less! lol. I can't believe I forgot to put on my Saber-Scorpion shirt! D'oh! :brickwall:

Thanks for the 'fig, and hope you enjoy yours too! Will ship out the rest of your package soon.

Oh man, I didn't even see those BrickWarriors Gondor items! Guess I should have looked more closely. Also, is that Paladin sword based on Jaime Lannister's from Game of Thrones? I was just working on a minifig of him and it looks very similar. Weird coincidence. I would have preferred an accurate version of Anduril, myself, but oh well. :P

Will try to post some of my own photos later.
