Hey folks,

 

Feels like forever since I've made a thing. However, that hasn't stopped me from preparing for Brickfair Virginia this year. This year will feature 120 Ankorans vs. 130 Altrairian Orcs. Of course, this does not factor in any unique figures that will be on both sides or the one cameo figure. No need to guess who that figure is, it's Tom Drake. Honestly, he's a regular as far as yearly builds go, and one of the few figures that would seamlessly blend in with the other Ankoran soldiers. 

 

So far, here's the layout!

 

 

I still have some terrain layering that needs to be done, which will probably happen tomorrow. During the month of July, I'll be working on a temple on one side of the battlefield. It'll look broken up, but should be pretty nice when a ton of decorations are added. Oh, and there will be plenty of blood! 

 

So yeah...

 

That's all for now. I am aiming to have the other baseplates layered tomorrow.

Terrain and wall update!

 

Still missing tiles for the wall, but other than that, the wall is basically done. Additional decorations are on their way, and work on the temple grounds commences next week.

Liking the terrain and walls. Gunna have to make my terrain uneven for my North Africa diorama at some point.

Are you buying all new parts and minifigs for every one of these displays that you make?

 

If so...damn dude, what do you do for a living - blackmail millionaires?

At least half of the minifigs are brand new (130). Most parts are reused from previous builds except for the baseplates, some dark tan plates, and most of the light bley.

DoD work keeps me well supplied!

The ruined temple is what I'm currently most excited about, love the detail you're putting into it!  Those irregularities in the wall really sell the impression, "hey, these walls have seen better days." 

 

So glad you're continuing this tradition for your local con, your passion and commitment to the craft are an inspiration to us all.

More progress!

 

Added two obelisks, six sacrifice altars, and barricades. 

 

 

Sooo...

 

Additional things that need to be mentioned.

1) Two organ guns will be added to the main display. One will be destroyed by vines which were created by orc shamans.

2) Still waiting on supply boxes and crates for the orc camp.

3) Orc banners have been created.

4) Still waiting on the parts to build the main altar. A small setback happened this week where I received the wrong order; with any luck, I should get that order sometime this week.

5) Shamans are 50% done.

6) Blood collection begins this week as well.

 

That's about it for now. I'll probably have one, maybe two more updates before BFVA2019.

Ooh, so the Ankorans are using the temple as a defensive position!  The barricades look awesome, and the temple is coming along quite nicely.

Nope, this is a position secured by the orcs! For once, the Ankorans are on the offensive side.

Sweet, even better!  My first thought upon seeing "organ guns" was "defensive batteries," but this should be much, much cooler.

Final order was received today after the seller sent it to the wrong person!

 

The altar will be constructed tomorrow as well as some last minute additions. I'll probably show off the details tomorrow, but you won't see everything together until sometime next week!

 

Also, Tom Drake might have another fellow knight assisting him. We'll see (it entirely depends on me remembering to grab said knight from my office on Monday)...

Question: Is it too late to request for any sig-figs to be in this?

 

If not, I'd like to have some of the figs I've requested of you in the past to make an appearance (like Dalton Westmoore, Amanon, Nox, etc).

I had considered adding figs, but most of them didn't fit the theme of the battle (except for two of them).

I GOT NOMINATED FOR BEST CASTLE/KNIGHTS!!! So...uh... yeah...

 

This is the final build... featuring Sir Tom Drake and Lady Severina Kallistos. They're about the only two that fit in with the Ankoran army. They're both in here fighting alongside various Ankorans, who clearly aren't too good utilizing Dwarven technology. Guess someone has to bail them out.

 

I'm tired right now and not thinking straight. I'll talk about BFVA2019 as a whole later.

So masterfully crafted!  The action, the effects, the overall battle....you've well and truly outdone yourself this year, Nightstalker, and we all know that's a hard task, indeed!

 

You definitely made the right call to include Tom and Severina, she especially blend in well with the Ankoran color scheme.  Your new Orc Shamans were a particularly notable addition on their side of the field, those back totems really caught my eye.  As for the rest, there's too much I liked to list!  The horror of the warg den, the effects of and the natural response to the artillery, the glorious battle lines....again, too much.  Well done, my friend!  A thousand times, well done.

I still can't get over how impressive this looks even though I saw it in person.
