Ramblings of a Deranged Hocotate Freight Employee - A Blog by Sir Muffonious - People told me that I should write a new blog post so now I am writing a new blog post

http://forums.saber-scorpion.com/index.php?app=blog&blogid=25&showentry=354

Welp, my plan didn't work too well, huh? I made that last blog post on August 3rd, and in it I swore that I would not participate in any RPs until my summer schoolwork was done with. My logic behind this was that if I really liked RPing, I would get the work done quickly so that I could get right back into RPing! Well, I procrastinated anyway. :\

BUT, a lot has happened since then! I went on a vacation I didn't like, I went for a swim in the ocean with my iPod and got an iPhone shortly afterwards, I finished interning in New Jersey, I obtained and played-through Metroid: Other M, and I went back to school. Yes, that means that my summer schoolwork is completed and the procrastination is over with, but now the regular schoolwork begins and the procrastination is just as bad!

To elaborate on a few of the things listed above: My family and I went to Wildwood (a beach/boardwalk thing in New Jersey) for the last few days of summer, and I had a pretty bad time. Lots of clams, though. Yum. The iPhone 4 is pretty awesome, IMO. I'm not one of those people with an irrational hatred/fear of Apple. There are plenty of things to dislike about them, but I don't have some personal vendetta against them because I've never had any problems with the company itself. I hate their computers, however. Um, final day of interning was just as boring as the rest of the experience. Overall uneventful but incredibly helpful in a number of ways. Metroid was an enjoyable experience, though there seems to be a bit of a debate regarding that. I hate situations like these. And last but not least, school.

School. We ended on such a high note last year, so why do we have to ruin all of that with a fourth and final year? I mean, at the end of Junior year I was friends with all of my teachers, I was doing well in all of my classes, and I spent the last day of school smuggling watermelon out of my Driver's Ed class to my hungry friends. It was perfect, but now you had to go and ruin it by making me experience one last year of torment. One last year of an over-packed schedule and just a few more irritating teachers with incredibly annoying classroom policies. And I'm not even looking forward to college. A week ago I was perfectly content with my life, and now all of a sudden I have to do homework and write college essays and fill out applications and go to school and write blog posts and argue about Metroid and other silly things. It's hectic.

So um, obviously the whole "opting out of RPs" thing is over and done with now. Obviously, since I'm currently participating in Irondrone's and Wolfy's RPs. So now you guys have to get back to work on those winning ideas so that I have something to do other than all of the more important things that I have to do! Help me distract myself from life!

Speaking of RPs, I've been concocting a little something of my own lately. I was supposed to have something posted a week or two ago, but Griff and Evil Eye Guy ended up posting an RP with a concept very similar to mine, so out of respect for them I opted not to post mine and put the idea on the shelf. Now I'm working with something entirely new, and while it might be a while longer before you guys see anything about it, I'm rather excited for it. I've been working on it slowly and at an unsteady pace, but I'll get there eventually. Hopefully you guys will enjoy it when it's ready, but as usual I have my concerns about it. Hawk's been helping me out with it for a while now, and more or less every day he bothers me about getting it ready, so if you want it to come sooner then really you should bother him, not me.

Yeah, bother him and let me sleep.

Muffo's listening to: "Whipped Cream" by Ludo

RPs to watch:
Freelancer: The New Frontier (Sign ups) - The RP that put the Muffin Machine out of commission for the time being. Griff and EEG seem to have put a lot of thought and hard work into this idea, and it's sure to be good once it gets off the ground.
Salvage 3.2 (Active) - The conclusion to a very good series of deep-space horror RPs created by Irondrone. I probably just like it because my character is Samus Aran.
Wulfgard: Over the Sea Part 2 (Active) - Werewolf says that this part of the RP will be far better than the first, but I don't believe her. To put the pressure on, I've decided to add it to my list of featured RPs so that it will get more views, forcing her to make it better to impress people. But let's face it, you're just reading this RP to read about Theriot's antics. Wacky old man!

Wel, I've already pre-ordered it, and I'm urging all my freinds (friends? I can never remember!) to order it, as well. Anyone Who has Waypoint knows the gameplay is great, and those who have read the book know that the story is even better, although sad.

HERES A SPOILER: THEY ALL DIE!!!!! Except for the CH33F. He's to cool to be sad about it. He doesn't even cry! Even though the closest thing he ever had to family was destroyed, he kept on going. Idiot. A focus, determined idiot, but still an idiot. With cool armour

I hope you can get a full set of the original Mark 5 armour in REACH. That wuld be Swagtastic(TM Zaan Deboix).

By, the way, if you pre-order Reach, you get Recon Helmet!! OMG!!!!!!!!! etc., etc.....

Welcome to the Madhouse - Satoshi Kon: 1963-2010

I realize most of you here are not involved or have a disdain for anime and it's related, but Satoshi Kon was pretty much a living legend. His works have been some of the most inspired and influential to be released through the medium and the age he passed away is simply far too young. I know this news may not necessarily be up to date, but it's just something that I wanted to put out here. Before his death, Kon did leave his final words. It's quite long, but very poignant. Even if this is the very first time you've even heard of the man, I implore you to read.

Saber-Scorpion's Lair News Blog - Assassin's Creed II Minifigs

http://forums.saber-scorpion.com/index.php?app=blog&blogid=1&showentry=351

((NOTE TO CUSTOMERS: I'm sorry to report that my printer broke down while I was attempting to fill this week's batch of orders. It is currently undergoing maintenance, and hopefully will be back up and running on Monday. But for now, orders placed any time since approximately August 19 have been delayed and will be shipped out as soon as possible next week. My apologies... everything has been this way since college resumed, it seems. ))

Now for the update...

A while back, I added some Renaissance Guards and Civilians sticker packs to the Historic section of the decal shop. Well, I decided to finally put them to use in some new Assassin's Creed II minifigs. You will find the new pictures on this page of the website. Or, if you are too lazy to go there, here are the majority of them below:

Somehow the summer whipped by without me getting the chance to make any cool LEGO models, so I'm back to working on nothing but minifigs while at my last semester of college. If you're interested, here are the projects I currently have planned:

- Fallout
- Halo: Reach
- Lord of the Rings (MUCH improved over my old versions)
- Ancient Greece and Rome
- possibly more Mass Effect stuff

No idea when these will be done, but I will try to do as many of them as possible. Sadly, the Mass Effect minifigs haven't generated as much interest as I was expecting, so that one is lower on my list than I would like. I'm still enjoying the game though, along with the awesome Alpha Protocol, which I like so much that I may even have to make minifigs of it, despite its reportedly low popularity. Sometimes I end up really, really enjoying games that no one else seems to notice, kind of like Jade Empire. And I still need to pre-order Halo: Reach and Fallout: New Vegas (by Obsidian, YESSS!). So many games, so little recreation time...

Roleplaying: Hopes of getting a criminal RP going/finished have been indefinitely postponed with the start (and hopefully, success) of Double Or Nothing by Ginger. So far it's proven to be one of the more interesting RPs I've had the pleasure of playing in recent times, with my character Roy Holt becoming a newfound favourite of mine. I really like the dynamic he has, and can't wait to see where the RP takes him - at the moment he's staking out a Laotian-run drug lab/strip club. In fact, I'm having so much fun that I would consider starting a sequel in the future, perhaps set in the late 80s/early 90s with an older Roy, new problems and an entirely new enviroment compared to the glitzy vibe the Double Or Nothing has provided. Food for thought, at least. Posse has also kicked off, and again I can see myself really getting into the character of Doctor Starkweather. He's a little more uptight but also more troubled than most characters I play, so hopefully it can lead to some cool roleplaying. Chip Larouche, played by the lovely Semiautomagic, is another character that caught my eye. Anyway, that's all I can think of for this week.

News: My journalism course has me writing a feature on contractors and their role in the military occupation of both Iraq and Afghanistan. With the recent decree by Hamid Karzai, stating that all private security companies must halt operations within a four month deadline has shaken up the private military industry. Over 40,000 contractors work in some capacity for a private security company, and over half of those are Afghan nationals. What could this spell for security in the region? Will this improve Afghan-US relations? One can point to many cases of alleged abuse by PMCs in both Iraq and Afghanistan, most of which have served to increase distrust of the occupiers. In a related story, Blackwater founder Erik Prince has 'relocated' to the UAE, which handily does not have an extradition policy with the US. Recent depositions relating to Blackwater's - or Xe, as it is now know - many legal troubles are obviously beginning to hit too close to home for Prince. Xe was most recently hit with a $42 million dollar fine for breaking US export laws by illegally smuggling weapons. Sadly this means they will avoid a criminal trial; clearly Prince is taking no chances either way.

Music: Been listening to Ratatat Remixes Vol. 2, packed with dope tracks. Here's a taster:

http://forums.saber-scorpion.com/index.php?app=blog&blogid=7&showentry=347

Those of you that hang around Red Base have probably seen my posts about Outpost 1.5, the sick twisted unwinnable space colony simulation that somehow manages to be both one of my favorite, and least favorite games of all time. Well I dug out the disc today, and in a temporary lapse of sanity I've decided to do a sort of quasi-Let's Play of it. So I'm about to put in the disc, and then, if it's compatible with Windows XP, I'm gonna play this game until I win.

Oh right, I can't win. Okay, until I lose then.

Edit, T+ 00:02:00: Well that was a let-down. Apparently this game is so old that it's not even compatible with a five year old OS, but then again I probably should have expected this from a game that comes with installation instructions for Windows 3.1 and has "Best in Show CES '94" on the cover. So yeah, this first installment of Death & Chaos: Until We Win ends before it even starts. Just as well, I'd rather not have LordKat sue me.

Under the Bodhi Tree - Shoe Rant

http://forums.saber-scorpion.com/index.php?app=blog&blogid=24&showentry=344

As you could most likely guess from the title, I hate shoes.

Sure, they're a great invention good for keeping your feet protected, but that's not the point.

The point is, I have rather large feet, size 13 in my country, the equivalent of US size 14. As you might imagine, having feet that are the largest size manufactured is a bit annoying. Namely in that no shops ever stock them in my size. I was lucky to get some comfortable slipons last time I went shoe-shopping but Ive been wearing them for over a year and the soles had worn so thin it was screwing my feet over.

So I went to the nearest shopping centre to buy some new ones. Out of the 3 different shops that sold shoes, I only found a single pair of size 13s, an all-leather formal affair. I thought, they're better than nothing, tried them on and they fitted well so I bought them.

The next day, I put on my new shoes and walked to school. Along the way, I noticed a sharp pain on my heels. When I got to school, I took them off and looked to see what it was. The shoes had torn off the skin on my heels so much that they'd actually soaked my socks in blood.

For once in my life, I wish I could be average instead of quite tall, size 2XL, large cranium and huge feet.

Bloody clothing companies, making things for the average.
