LEGO Halo: ODST and Star Trek Characters

Posted by Saber-Scorpion  Icon, 26 February 2010 - 10:40 AM

Yep, new LEGO figs! But since I want to make this the featured entry at the top of the forum in order to bother the bottom-dwellers (aka Dumpster divers), I need to fill up the top with some needless text so that the giant images won't show up and bother everyone else too. Okay, that's done! Now on to the LEGO!

So I guess those Halo ODST guys are finally up on the site now. Check it out!

Also, I have given Maegan's Star Trek figs a page of their own at long last. Here's the link from the LEGO section:

Yeah, all the LEGO pages still have the old black-background layout right now, but I will try to update them to the new look sooner or later. Anyway, enjoy!

Welcome Back!

Posted by Saber-Scorpion  Icon, 30 January 2010 - 03:47 PM

I admit, when I first shut down the site, I hoped it would come back up the same day. As usual, life had different plans, and so SSLF has been down for a whole week. Still, here we are again! I hope you all like the new look. I will work on changing the rest of the website to match over the course of the coming weeks.

You may be wondering why I made this big change to the website. Well, there are several reasons. First of all, I was sick and tired of the old one. I've had a black background with red and black UI elements and white text for at least a decade now (SSLF is at least 10 years old this year!), and it was starting to give me a strong negative vibe. I'm hoping to move the website in a new, more positive, more artistic direction. Also, this new site is much cleaner code-wise and uses all that newfangled CSS stuff. That means I can make changes to the site's look and feel much more quickly and easily. And that's good for everyone. But especially me.

I'm hoping that you can expect more updates in the coming days. I will also try to make some random blog posts to fill in the gaps.

Now, if you want to comment on the new design itself, feel free to leave a comment on this post. If you want to comment on the upgrade to the forums, however, please leave a reply to this post: http://forums.saber-...

Thanks!

UPDATE: New Shop Stuff

Posted by Saber-Scorpion  Icon, 31 December 2009 - 02:20 PM

(NOTE: My blog system doesn't show 2010 as a year, so I'm working on getting it updated. I guess I have some kind of Y2K10 bug?)

Well, that was the worst semester ever. Thank God it's over. Now I can get back to updating at least a LITTLE more often. Right now, however, all I have for you is a shop update. Specifically...

In the Alien Invasion section, check out the new Space Drop Troopers! I will have some actual LEGO creations using these later, but I have to order some parts to finish them. In the meantime here are the decals:

Click on any of the above images to go to the shop page. All of these decals are available in a wide variety of colors. The Cyborg Accessories are now in new colors as well!

Also, in the instructions section:

Yep, the long-awaited Marine Recon Vehicle is here! Along with a few other little things.

And finally, in the Star Explorers section...

We have 2009 and Classic editions of the Star Explorer Officers! The Bridge Crew is available, as well as male and female individual Officer decals in Red, Green, and Blue!

Speaking of which, I am still working on getting these on the site itself, but here are links to my sister's new Star Trek creations on MOCPages in the meantime...

The Classic Trek Crew!

The 2009 Trek Crew!

They're so awesome they can't even hear you over the sound of how awesome they are.

UPDATE: Brute Choppa!

Posted by Saber-Scorpion  Icon, 20 September 2009 - 08:16 AM

Well, my entry into the Annual Procrastination Awards went well, and I won one of the top ten spots in the "Slowest Website Updates" category. The reason you haven't heard of this awards show is because they haven't gotten around to announcing it yet. They just keep putting it off.

If you're one of these people who sometimes visits my Brickshelf gallery, you may have already seen these photos... but now I've finally got around to putting them on the website! Yay! Here we go...

First of all, at long last... a Brute Chopper! Yay! And no, I still haven't done anything on that Hornet I said I was going to make ages ago, so don't ask:

Since I now have Halo 3 Brutes and Grunts, I've updated my Covenant Forces page with a single image to reflect this:

And finally, I have also added photographs to the Elite Armor Permutations page detailing how to construct the head (helmet) for the Ascetic permutation:

About the Warthog Instructions I said I was working on: I ran into an unexpected error after compiling the images, and I've simply been too busy with college to reinstall my corrupted installation of the software I use to create the images. But at some indeterminate point in the future I swear I will post those instructions. I just have no idea when.

UPDATE: Finally...

Posted by Saber-Scorpion  Icon, 05 August 2009 - 08:24 PM

It never fails to amaze me how little I manage to accomplish in any given period of time. Nevertheless, there are still a couple of weeks left in the summer, and I intend to make the most of them. There will hopefully be another update shortly after this one.

As for this update, here's what's new:

- A while back, I posted a (shocking!) photo in my Brickshelf gallery of a peach-skinned (scandalous!) minifig of Sallah from Indiana Jones. Now, eons (exaggerated!) after I started work on the project, here is the actual Indiana Jones diorama I was working on:

Please don't pay too much attention to my cynical commentary on the new Indy movie. I try not to force my opinions into the image captions on my LEGO pages, but sometimes it's just so hard to resist...

- Also, of course, there are new decals in the shop! Check the Adventurers section:

- Finally, also in the decal shop are some new things which should give you hints as to the natura of the next update - in the Alien Invasion section:
